The most innovative game on the xbox live arcade, and it's filled with gametypes that make it well worth the Microsoft points.
Coupled with more exciting levels in the latter stages of the main mode, and the thrill of hitting triple-digit scores in Loopnastics, Wik is like a web-game that grew up.
As the cricket-like Wik, you use your tongue to collect grubs to feed your slow-moving monster and snatch acorns to spit at your insect foes. [Jun 2006, p.64]
When I initially reviewed this game for the PC I found it to be one of the most engaging and addicting titles I had ever played, and thankfully, Wik: Fable of Souls not only holds up under the pressure of steep 360 competition; it actually expands that addiction with new levels, new modes, intuitive console controls, and some of the best gameplay $5 can buy.
It has an undeniably appealing visual style akin to the "Oddworld" titles back on PSOne. The game is mainly about controls, and after getting the hang of them you'll find the game pulls off what it's trying to do fairly well.
As pick-up-and-play titles go, this is absolutely top-notch. [Issue#23, p.96]
It isn’t quite the best puzzle game out there, but if you want something completely different then it might be right up your alley.
