There are few better multiplayer games in existence, and no better ones on Xbox Live Arcade. If your gaming habits ever include playing with others, online or off, Worms is utterly essential.
  2. X-ONE Magazine UK
A genius concept thanks to exploding sheep, homing missiles, air strikes and Street Fighter special moves. [Issue 19, p.116]

Worms HD has it’s moments that dazzle on screen and in gameplay. Namely the online component is really where you’ll want to play; but it ends up as a great local multiplayer with your real-life friends (if you have any).

You’ll enjoy playing the game, but you won’t be able to stop wondering what the game could have been without the 50 MB limit.
  5. But assuming that last issue gets resolved in the coming weeks, Worms is a fantastic addition to your Live Arcade library
  6. It loses a few points due to the price, but it's an otherwise fine game.
  7. 360 Gamer Magazine UK
A crisp high definition version of a classic game and, with hardly any faults, can be considered one of the best Live Arcade purchases you'll make. [Issue 24, p.70]
  8. Official Xbox Magazine UK
Perfect multiplayer customisation. [May 2007, p.94]

Even with the limited themes, Worms has a lot of legs, or at least a lengthy slimy belly, and it’s a worthy addition to XBLA, especially as a multiplayer game over Live.
  10. Worms for the Xbox Live Arcade does an excellent job of recreating the fun and excitement of the series, but it's slightly disappointing to see so many modes and weapons stripped from the experience. Still, if you're looking for a great game to play with friends or online, then you can't go wrong with Worms.
  11. It’s a shame that some of the backgrounds and voice packs seem to have been limited for that trademarked MSP exploitation later on, but even in its most basic form, Worms is still highly recommended.
  12. A faithful adaptation of the popular series, and while it isn't without its faults, is some of the most fun you can have in multiplayer on Live.
  13. Team 17’s masterpiece is one of the funniest strategic games around. This new HD edition brings to today standards an immortal classic.
  14. Worms offers almost limitless level designs, great multiplayer action for 4 people online and off and a basic but vital ingredient for any game – fun!
  15. Official Xbox Magazine
At the very least, the 360's first "Worms" game recalls the series' hearty roots--and for that, we're thankful. [Mar 2007, p.79]
  16. It does right by the classic Worms gameplay, and it's probably the best-looking Worms game ever; but a shortness of features makes it feel a little bare-bones, not to mention a little overpriced.

It is sad to see how far backwards this game has gone from the earlier versions (Armageddon, etc.). I purchased Worms from the Xbox LiveIt is sad to see how far backwards this game has gone from the earlier versions (Armageddon, etc.). I purchased Worms from the Xbox Live Arcade hoping for a new, innovative title from Team 17. However, what I got was a disappointing re-run of a game, that simply didn't seem finished. One of the primary features made the previous worms games so great was the customization, with changeable worm voices, victory fanfares, and more than 3 map styles. Perhaps Team 17 is running low-budget, because this seems like a quick cash-grab compared to the previous titles. Call me nostalgic for "The good ole days", but there was so much more they could have done with this. Full Review »

Very disappointed with this game. I expected a port of the brilliant Worms:Armageddon - but this is more like Worms 1.0 beta lite.

This is a great little arcade version of Worms and don't let the nay-sayers convince you otherwise. If you want a million weapons that This is a great little arcade version of Worms and don't let the nay-sayers convince you otherwise. If you want a million weapons that get more and more ludicrous with every edition of the game, then go back to the myriad of other Worms games and play on your own. This is like the original Worms with suped up , Armageddon graphics. Yes, the settings are basic, but if you want a full-blown Worms game, wait til Team 17 bring out the next instalment, but this is the Live Arcade version which, by necessity, needs to be simple and it is... and it's a joy to play! As ever though, the main problem is the Xbox Live... not the game itself, but the idiots who play online, lose two of their Worms early on and bail out of the game, leaving the rest of the players with the "Game session is no longer available" message and nothing to do other than restart the game. I do hope Xbox bring out some kind of system that allows for automatic punishment of early leavers. Full Review »
