  • Summary: In the game, players control an anime-style heroine that destroys anything in her path using guns, blades, magic, and a healthy dose of cinematic flair. X-Blades features a special combination of cinematic style, beautiful animation, and relentless, high speed gameplay. Players assume the role of Ayumi, a stunningly seductive yet tenacious heroine who battles enemies with her pistol blades, acrobatic ability, and magic spells. With full anime cut scenes, the story unfolds revealing demonic powers and spectacular landscapes, all ripe for exploration and battles. [SouthPeak Interactive] Expand

  1. If you're looking for some thumb-blistering battling at the hands of a barely-dressed female protagonist, you could do a lot worse (see Bikini Samurai Squad) than X-Blades.
  2. Despite finding quite a few things that proved substantially irritating at different moments, the battle-heavy action does indeed scratch an itch.
  3. X-Blades is a solid title, and although it might not be as accomplished as some similar games in the genre, it certainly is a valiant effort.
  4. X-Blades doesn’t fail for lack of originality or innovation, because that would imply that it met some meager expectations. X-Blades fails because it’s an ill-conceived lovechild of poor taste and even poorer game design.

A gorgeous game filled with endless slaughter. Not perfect, not very deep, but it is quite fun indeed.

Very fun Hack and slasher. If you want a deep story to go with the action, then look elsewhere. The story in this game is simply there just to give an excuse to decimate hundreds and hundreds of enemies. The "levels" are all quite small with little freedom, extremely linear. I'm currently on my 2nd play though, I just want more! DLC is also on the way, which could be interesting. All up this is a great game for anyone who just wants a little hack and slash action and not worry about any story. Story: 2 (nothing really here), Graphics: 9 (very fluid and some nice designs) Gameplay: 9 (gameplay elements work almost perfectly), Sound: 9 (The score featured in this game is not only suitable for this type game, you will also find yourself turning up the volume. Overall: 7.25/10 (my opinion). Expand
  3. This is a bad game period. There's almost no story. The difficulty level goes from easy to super tough and extremely frustrating. It's ridiculous how repetitive this games is. It's one of those half-baked game that didn't have the budget to be finished. That graphics are good though. The potential for a descent game was there but unfortunately SouthPeak Games must have ran out of time, money or simply good ideas. Expand
