Thrilling from start to finish, Alien: Isolation is the game fans of the franchise have long been waiting for. [Issue#255, p.57]

The highest compliment that you can pay Creative Assembly’s uncompromising, nerve-plucking and lengthy entry in the Alien canon is that even without any prior knowledge of its source material, Alien: Isolation is superb.

Though it's not flawless, Isolation is certainly one of the best games in the franchise, and I'm damn impressed with what The Creative Assembly has managed to pull off.

Alien: Isolation is an incredibly beautiful game whose regular boring patches are almost always countered with bloodcurdling tension or mind-blowing spectacle. But you should only try it out if you’re a big sci-fi fan and if you have nothing against doing engineering tasks, like in Dead Space. And of course, if you don’t want to miss all of the references, you should at least check out Alien the movie first, if not the entire quadrilogy.

For fans of the Alien series, the films, books, comics, and every other form of entertainment imaginable, Alien: Isolation is simply a must-play, given that it fits so well into the storyline that it nearly seems to be a chapter in it's own right.

Alien: Isolation is worth experiencing, but at the same time feels like lost potential.

Someday, someone is going to make an incredible Alien video game that checks every box. But, sadly, Isolation is not it.

There a no cheap jump tricks here just pure adrenaline as if you actually on the ship evading the alien. I have to say though anyone not into hiding and taking it slow do not buy this game. There is action but it's mainly about deception and distraction both for the alien and other npc's. The graphics are stunning and so much attention to detail 10/10 for that. If you have always wanted to be in an alien film or at least feel like you are in the universe this is for you. The alien is terrifying and no one way is the same one load and the alien is waking down the corridor the next he's up in the vents changing his strategy. Awesome x100000 Expand

OrAlien: Isolation captures the imagination of the previous film effortlessly to re-insure us, that this is one of the best games of 2014. Or dare I say the best survival horror game period. This genre has seen a lift after the success of Outlast. The games atmosphere is on point! this is the best alien game to date! The amazing dialogue and voice acting is one of the best iv seen in a while. Not to forget the palm sweating game play and lengthy satisfying story. By the near 20 hour campaign you will feel mentally tired and just want off the ship! This forms a great connection between the character and player, as they both have something in common. This is the most fun iv had with a game this year. Can I put my name down for a sequel? Expand

The atmosphere is dense, the sound design, sfx and music is not only absolutely perfect for the environment and overall feel, it sits tightly with what we're used to from the movies. Graphics are overall pretty good on the XB1. Lovely grain and warming fx, mostly good textures and it's possible to investigate or read many of little details on the Sevastopol to your hearts content. The alien AI works great and the danger of it lurking arund somewhere makes me feel like I'm 15 years old again, playing Resident Evil 1 for the first time. It's a scary game without being too relient on jump scares. It's what's possible, that's scary, not what is actually happening. Well, that too, actually. It's a fantastic game - not only because we finally got the Alien game we always wanted (and deserved), but also because the game itself is just so good. It combines joy and terror so magnificently. Well done, CA and Sega. A certain Randy Pitchford must be weeping into his moneybags right now. :-P Expand

Well done Sega! I feel I am on the road to recovery after the disaster that was colonial marines. If you go into this game looking for a runWell done Sega! I feel I am on the road to recovery after the disaster that was colonial marines. If you go into this game looking for a run and gun shooter, you will be disappointed. But if you take it for what it is - an edge of your seat horror/suspense game, this is just what the doctor ordered. Yes there is only one alien - but she is one mean mofo. I survived my first panicked encounter, but she came back for me! Again, and again, and again! The first time she got me I almost fell off my chair. Your time aboard the ship and space station will not only be spent sneaking around and avoiding the big ugly, there are plenty of other denizens waiting in the shadows - groups of survivors and ill-tempered synthetics add to the difficulty and fun of the game. You will come across a few friendly faces as well, but be wary! There are weapons and tools at your disposal to help you along the way - firearms, flamethrowers, noise-makers, smoke bombs, and EMP mines, just to name a few. Don't expect to just pop a cap in big mama's ass though, it ain't gonna be that easy! This game is best played on hard in my opinion, as it is more of a horror/survival game and this will give you the most bang for your buck. Death will come for you, no doubt - so steer clear if your not up for a few frustrations. But getting your head torn off is rarely this great.
I think 9 is an appropriate score based on what the game was aiming to achieve. Great graphics and design, good gameplay, great bad guys, awesome edge of your seat suspense. Games like this give me hope that there is good stuff in store for the new generation of consoles.

+Genuinely tense and terrifying moments, as in very few games have I felt as much relief upon seeing a savepoint
+Great atmosphere, setting, graphics that are aithful to the Alien universe. Story is good enough
+The Alien itself is a truly frightening enemy (A.I is unpredictable and intelligent), making for truly tense moments, and forcing you to use all your wits and the various ways to deal with it: hiding, using distractions, alternative routes, or flamethrower/molotov cocktail.
    -Characters are not that well-developped
-Game objectives often rely on the same things (go here and pull this lever, go reactivate electricity). After the 14th time you forget exactly why you are doing it.
-Certain parts can be insanely difficult and frustrating. Also, at times, savepoints can seem a bit sparse.

Overall a great game. Not much replay value, but if you play at high difficulty levels the game will already last you over well 15+ hours. If you are just mildly interested in survival horror games or the Alien mythos, this game is to be added in your game collection.
