That it’s so mechanically rich and still conveys the raw energy and fun of duking it out with huge monsters and action-figure-esque hunters is a real design feat.

Evolve stands as a testament to Turtle Rock's unique approach to online multiplayer, and is one of the most enjoyable competitive and cooperative experiences we've had so far this generation.

Designing a multiplayer game with inherent asymmetry is quite ambitious. To make it a white knuckle action title geared towards seriously competitive players could be considered lunacy. Yet, this is what Turtle Rock attempted, and, for the most part, made work.

Evolve challenges every kind of player and tries to remind us how important and fun playing co-op in video games can be. It also helps us move on from the single player scenario thanks to the online mode. Gather your friends, build your team and get ready for a hunt. Try to survive as long as you can.

Evolve deserves its time in consumer hands and is a game that should not be so easily forgotten, but it does need some work to regain momentum.

If you're looking for a game to expressly play with your online friends, Evolve will please you with an innovative multiplayer experience. But its pretty generic and forgettable maps and overall lack of edge could tire you and your friends pretty quickly.

Evolve delivers small doses of excellence, but the entire experience is rarely exciting. The big-boss battles are stressfully manic in the best possible way, it’s just a shame that the rest of the game is so boring.

Any of the reviews you are seeing that start out with complaining about “micro transactions” or “paid DLC” should be written off as false.Any of the reviews you are seeing that start out with complaining about “micro transactions” or “paid DLC” should be written off as false. For whatever reason this game has drawn a lot of false reviews…most likely placements from competitors. I played the Alpha, Beta and just got through playing 3 straight hours of custom games (where you can be the monster and still chat with your friends) and me and my friends had a blast!! The matchmaking is fast, the maps are great, the gameplay is fluid, the various roles complement each other very well. It is true you must like cooperative, team-based play because that is what this game is all about. And it is definitely best to play with your mic turned on so that you can communicate with your teammates. Also, for some reason many reviews are comparing this game to Titanfall…they are not even in the same league. If you are a hunter, then Evolve forces you to play as a team if you want to win…and if you are the monster then your strategy is to escape, evolve, and then kill all of the hunters. In Titanfall you can around and Rambo…no need to play as a part of the team at all. Don’t fall for all of these negative reviews…they are from people who haven’t even played the game and for some reason are trying to damage Evolve’s reputation. Evolve is in fact great cooperative based fun!!! Expand

This is one of the few FPS games that actually requires strategy and team work. I was skeptical of the games ability to hold my attentionThis is one of the few FPS games that actually requires strategy and team work. I was skeptical of the games ability to hold my attention with it being mostly online, but after playing with friends and find new friends online to play with I have been happily been proven wrong. The games use of team work does not only make the game more fun in general, but I feel gives a much greater sense of accomplishment to the players as well versus just playing with some other computers/robots. Sure it does kind of stink that you have to pay for SOME extra DLC later, but that is a given with any game you buy today I.E. Map Packs, Season Passes, New DLC weapons. Hello people this has been happening far before Evolve. I myself can say I will be paying for any new DLC coming forth as I am sure this game is going to sky rocket even more and the game has the ability to become a classic like Left 4 Dead and Team Fortress...... With that being said I can express the amount of fun it is to play this game with your friends and the amount of laughs we have had together sharing stores and facing off against one another. The graphics and play style with the game is completely new and the world looks stunning and is always throwing surprises at you even after you feel like you have dominated the map it can still turn for the worst no matter if your a monster or a hunter. Along with the draw of friend fun, the want to complete challenges is a lot of fun for those of you completion-ist out there like myself. Some of the completions goals may seem outrageous for some of the characters but with a little creative playing you will figure it out like I did. So do not let the bad and "false" reviews out there scare you from this game. Give it a shot and realize how much fun you can actually have with it. Expand

To start off this game is not for everyone. You really have to enjoy working as a team. This means using a headset and coordinating with team. Also the monster has a steep learning curve. Setting that a side Evolve is really fun to play as a hunter. The environment your hunting in is fantastic. Having to deal with wild life, weather and monster is an interesting combination. Hoping to see more in future game modes and content. My only complaint about this game right now is DLC pricing. Expand

There are a few things that I really didn't enjoy about the game. There is no solid storyline, you just jump into a planet called Shear and have almost no clue where and how these monster came about. Another thing I just seemed to really not enjoy about this game is that there isn't a big lasting appeal, it doesn't give you a reason to keep putting it in your xbox or playstation everytime you look at your shelf. Playing with other people can be incredibly fun. Relying on bots during solo play can be quite annoying however Expand

This game is Online Versus Only.
Not worth buying until price reach 29.99 USD.
Only good part is New Gameplay unlike Most Shooters nowdays.
Avoid buying Season Pass DLCs is Pay to Unlock are not worth since Filesize is 3MB-10MB.
Avoid buying Pay to Unlock DLCs is not worth paying since they Shipped on Disc.

I hate Pay to Unlock aka On Disc DLC.

Seriously, unless you walk into this thing solo and get the Monster spot, or come in with a full team, this game isn't for you. Really hard for me to enjoy when the community really seems opposed to helping new players learn, and no friends bought the game. Big disappointment for me on this one. Expand

Game itself is actually pretty decent but the downright awful business model from 2K completely ruins it. DLC is a complete ripoff. The amountGame itself is actually pretty decent but the downright awful business model from 2K completely ruins it. DLC is a complete ripoff. The amount they charge for DLC that should be included with the game is insulting to players. An extra $60 worth of Pay2Win DLC right out of the gate for a game that RETAILS AT $60, is an absolute joke.

Honestly, this is one of the few times you should go out of your way and boycott this game because it's not just about DRM and privacy (which is still very important), this is about games and their ridiculous DLC costing WAY TOO MUCH going forward (from a selfish perspective, more expensive games means, well, less games I'll be able to play).

Sorry but shelling out $100+ for the full game is unacceptable. Stop buying this game before they get away with it and set a precedent in the industry. Don't buy this game.
