Sea of thieves is one of a kind, a very rare game that will be a sea of joy for some, and a strange and empty game, that lack some of the basics of modern games for others. For me it's a total success, a game that has filled the hours I've spend playing it with plenty of unforgettable moments.

Rare have been clear about their goal of wanting players to create their own stories within Sea of Thieves, and it is safe to say they’ve succeeded. Let’s hope they can keep the ship on course.

Sea of Thieves shines most brightly when playing with friends. The gameplay is both fun and accessible, and the technical aspects of the game are truly wonderful, but everything is weighed down by the lack of additional content and greater variety.

Having fun in Sea of Thieves is a slow burn at the moment. Most of the game involves you just chilling on your ship while looking for other pirates to steal from, or for the raids to start. It’s not a game that you can play every single day for hours on end, and most people will certainly tire of it after seeing all of the PvE content available now. Even so, Sea of Thieves is incredible in the way you can interact with players and be whatever kind of pirate you want to be.

Sea of Thieves is a game with great potential, but it's undermined by a lack of variety and depth. Meditative alone, fascinating and epic in multiplayer, the navigation experience provided by Rare is truly unique and brilliant. On the other hand, the extreme freedom given to the player cannot be fulfilled because of clumsy boots on the ground mechanics and a quest structure that is far too repetitive.

Though it looks stunning and is an impressive achievement in open world multiplayer gaming, a lack of variety and completely frustrating single-player mode keeps Sea of Thieves from staying afloat.

Perhaps the least forgivable aspect for me, given my love of exploration and discovery in games like these, is that all the islands feel the same. For Sea of Thieves to be a truly unforgettable experience for me I’d have liked to have seen islands and archipelagos that feel lovingly crafted with supreme attention to detail. What we have instead is a map that feels like Rare turned “Generate Game” on once and just ran with what the creator spat out. This, more than anything else, saddens me as it makes things feel even less devoid of life. Islands are too spread out, too samey and too uninteresting leaving the player with a, “seen one, seen them all” feeling.

TL;DR, The game lacks content but has great potential to be awesome.

Sea of Thieves in it's current state feels like an early access and to charge people 60US$ is insane for what you actually get. There is a huge lack of content and the content in the game feels to much the same. It's getting repetitive and boring fast as all three factions give missions that are similar. Take quest, go to island A, get what you need, get back. And when you progress that faction you get another "trickier" quest. Take the quest, solve a clue, go to island A, go to island B, get back... ZzZzZz

Don't get me wrong though. The core in this game as of graphics and mechanics are awesome and with more content, the right content, this game has the potential to be really awesome and fun co-op experience. One could just hope they have much content in the loop for the near feature. If not, the game might be dead before even reaching it's full potential.

I'm also really tired of games that comes out lacking content with the promise to build as they go... Can we just get what we pay for for once? 60US$ should be a content rich game, not just a platform that in the future will expand.

I was really, really excited for the release of Sea Of Thieves.
Rare Ltd. the studio devoloping it was a legendary and I expected so much out of them. But then after playing the games for several days after launch, it has left a bitter taste in my mouth.
The idea and concept is amazing, drift on the wide seven seas as you fight other pirates and collect the booty.
But this game is not that. This game is not at all what was promised. The game looks beautiful and you really come to admire the cartoonish yet amazing artstyle. Furthermore the music in the game is amazing and you'll be dancing to the tunes as you set out on your pirate adventures. But the flaws are there.
Their is not progression you only have reputation and becoming a "pirate legend" to look forward to. I feel as the game should have been more mmo-esque. What I would have liked to see is a skill tree, not that would make things unfair but i their has to be some kind of objective. Voyage's get old fast and in the beggining they are a real joy, but quickly feel like a choir with voyage's repeating themselves constantly and to my experience, there are almost no other pirates at sea and it just feels like a PvE game only and not a hybrid ( PvP and PvE ).
The game's asking price is unacceptable regarding the fact that you get so little descent content at launch, the game feels like it's in beta and I do not, at all reccomened buying it for 60 dollars, wait for the price to go down to maybe 15-25 dollars or just get it free for 14 days through xbox game pass!

Hope you enjoyed my review, if you did you can go check out my youtube channel at JustMeaty ( the channel with Glitched M as its logo ), I don't upload reviews there but you can find other types of exciting content there! Farewell! :D

With a crew this game is a blast for about 5-6 hours then even the hardest content feels super repetitive. Other then the "skins" which are mostly just recolors of other items, there is 0 progression in the game. It feels like it should be free to play with the option to maybe buy some skins. They may have ended up making more money going that route as well. After the first update I have to further lower my score. A complete re-download of the game for 3-4 bug fixes is pathetic and a dark sign of things to come. Expand
