Jul 19, 2018A 'complete edition' pack that only include one new DLC with two characters and one game mode. It may not look like much, and if you already have the digital version of the game you don't need to buy this Plus edition... But if you haven't played this superb platformer yet or you are a hardcore Sonic fan you have to have it.

Ray, who once you get used to his flying ability, is the best of speedrunning, and Mighty who is very useful for exploration. The Bonus level is the greatest, the blue sphere unlocks are flipping amazing, and the easter eggs are legendary. Would recommend if you have the original to get the DLC's instead but if you never bought it, love the art, love physical copies, or just love classic sonic. This is the game for you… Expand

I think it was time for Sonic Mania to get an upgrade due to the critical success of Sonic Mania and the fact that it's literally impossible to get a physical copy of the game. Introducing Sonic Mania Plus, an upgraded Sonic Mania that includes even more things that might as well make it even better than its original form, it has more nostalgia written into it than what Sonic Mania could ever have to surprise its fans into wanting more.… Expand
Jul 20, 2018Sonic Mania Plus is finally here and i'm...disappointed.
(Please, read before you down-vote my review.) Pros: -Adds two new (or in thisSonic Mania Plus is finally here and i'm...disappointed.
(Please, read before you down-vote my review.)
-Adds two new (or in this case, old characters) Mighty and Ray. (Mighty, the former Chaotix crew member so bland and unoriginal that Charmy stayed and HE left. And Ray, the guy from a game no one has ever played.)
-The new characters have new moves.
-Levels are slightly harder.
-1 new level.
-The new characters don't have many routes for them and in normal mode, their moves are useless for looking for different paths.
-Mighty's shell feature is op. can block all spikes and makes some bosses even more easy.
-Levels' layout hasn't chance much and pretty much the same.
-Only 1 new boss and all bosses are the same, same with mini bosses.
-Few levels were removed for Encore.
-Angel Island isn't really a full stage.
-The cut content that was found in Mania's data wasn't reuse for Plus, like that mini boss or the gimmicks like the water colors gimmick for Press Garden.
-Lives are removed, so rings became useless if you go over 50 (unless you got Super form) for the pinball bonus stage.
-Pinball bonus stage needs a rework, got stuck a lot in different places.
-Character item boxes are very rare, which means you gotta do pinball stage.
-Cutscenes of characters going to different stages shouldn't be behind DLC.
-Cheap enemy placement in later levels.
I only played through the vanilla game once, because it just wasn't fun enough to warrant a second. I tried it for this and played until the boring slog that is Press Garden. Realized i hadn't died once so far, the game was barely any harder if at all, and that i had been tricked into paying a "good sonic game" tax disguised as a DLC.
For the DLC, i give it a 1/10.
I'm disappointed with this DLC, and TBH, it's not worth $5. maybe $2.99. I can't recommend this DLC unless it's on sale. Wish i could get a refund.… Expand
