Battlefront´s impressive fidelity to the Star Wars universe, and one of the best technical aspects we´ve seen in any game, are not enough to make us forget it lacks of solo campaign, and 12 maps are too few. The experience is great, but it's too short.

Star Wars Battlefront its full of heroic moments and has stunning visuals and legendary OST. It could be too simple in terms of gunplay, but it's great building a frantic Star Wars universe.

The game is gorgeous, authentic, highly detailed, and rife with potential to grow into something much bigger.

Battlefront doesn't go much deeper than its ambitious surface appeal. It front loads its best content, only to fade in quality as the hours roll by. Star Wars Battlefront's skin is beautiful, but its legs are shaking, and threaten to buckle with time.

As close as you'll get to getting your childhood back. Dig through the incredible production values and you'll find a serviceable shooter, but one with a potentially terminal lack of content. [Jan 2016, p.73]

Star Wars Battlefront is a solid proof-of-concept that should be fully realized in an inevitable sequel. Like Evolve, Titanfall and The Order: 1886 before it, Battlefront chooses style over substance. It’s absolutely beautiful and captures what it’s like to be in a Star Wars film, but style can only take a game so far.

It truly brings to life my childhood fantasies of being inside Star Wars. Easy, comftorable controls, stunning graphics, natural like animations, sound that seems like living the classic trilogy, amazing gameplay, tons of multiplayer gamemodes and maps, all add up to a great experience. While there a few minor bugs, the gameplay makes up for it all. I would also like to see a few more planets (although they are adding the Death Star in summer), and a few more heroes would make this one of the most amazing shooter experiences. There may, not be a story mode, but the amazing multiplayer experience makes a campaign unneccecary. Expand

It is visually fantastic and at times truly thrilling. Running across grass, or ducking for cover on the sand covered planes of Tatooine has never felt more real, thanks to unbelievable graphics and sound design. In those areas, Star Wars Battlefront excels better than most titles could ever dream of.

But the excellence of this title just about runs short there. If you remove the extremely impressive and polished coating around this game, you are left with a shallow, and at best average, shooter game. There are a handful of modes that are fun for a while, but most are uninspired and more of a drag to play than a thrill. The map choice is very limited at launch, and I felt I'd seen everything in just a few hours. There is no real campaign, not much genuine choice, and just very little to get stuck into here.

On top of this, the game has an absurd price tag. In the UK it's £40 at launch with very vague 'DLC packs' promised in the future for about the same price. Pay for everything, and you're close to £100 on a game that doesn't really beat its competition in any department other than sound and visuals. This is just ludicrous. Star Wars Battlefront feels empty, hollow and is a bit of a cash grab. It is smaller and less fulfilling than its predecessors and considering they are over a decade old now, DICE and EA have much more to do if they want the promised sequel to be worth anything near the prices they charge.

Sure, it might look pretty and run well, but the amount of content you're paying for, for the price you're paying for, is mediocre and laughable. The thing that makes a star wars game so appealing in this day and age is the possibility for an incredible campaign and DICE and EA both dropped the ball hard onto the ground when it came to that. The multiplayer might be fun for a brief amount of time, but the lack of guns and maps essentially ruins the replay value a multiplayer-based game should ultimately have, and is therefore worthless. I am just in awe at the final product and how underwhelming and insulting it is to those who paid for this abomination. Expand

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Very pretty, but a failure in the fundamentals of FPS games.

Firstly, the loading screens. I spent as much time in loading screens as I did in actual gameplay. - Fail

Next, spawning. In the larger games you either spawn way too far from the action, run for over a minute to get there only to be taken out instantly. Other times you spawn too close to the action or right in an enemy's sight, instantly being killed. And this can happen 5 or 6 time in a row. - Extremely frustrating.

Balance: The rebels have no ground vehicles. This gives a major advantage to the imperials as they have the AT-ST. Luke Skywalker is way too fast and impossible to hit and Bossk had infrared which allows him to see any enemy from anywhere. OP heroes.

Radar is pointless. The range is very obscure and enemies right next to you do not show up.

Terrain....So I'm running, and running, and running, and running some more. Suddenly I'm just running in place. What's that? a small stick on the ground. Oh look! I'm dead.

No singleplayer mode. This makes the game pointless for anyone with poor internet. and Frustrating for anyone who might want a break from such competitive multiplayer.

Terrible matchmaking. Often skill levels are either way in your teams favour or way in the other team's.

I will give credit to the graphics. They are absolutely beautiful. But that's about the only positive thing I can say about this game.
