  • Summary: Dead Rising 3 has some new downloadable content, and boy is it something else. Styled Super Ultra Dead Rising 3 Arcade Remix Hyper Edition EX Plus Alpha, its an expansion of the Dead Rising 3 universe, starring characters Nick, Annie, Chuck, and Frank... sort of. See, characters inDead Rising 3 has some new downloadable content, and boy is it something else. Styled Super Ultra Dead Rising 3 Arcade Remix Hyper Edition EX Plus Alpha, its an expansion of the Dead Rising 3 universe, starring characters Nick, Annie, Chuck, and Frank... sort of. See, characters in "Super Ultra..." are actually cosplayers, dressed in various outfits from the history of other Capcom titles, from Rival Schools to Street Fighter to Dino Crisis. When the characters wear a given costume, they get, more or less, the powers associated with that particular character. So, in costume as Chun-Li from Street Fighter II, Annie gets her famous Flash Kick, whereas dressing up as Mayor Mike Haggar from Final Fight yields his timeless 360 spinning punch.

The point of all this is to team up with up to three buddies and go kick some zombie ass. Levels range from straight-up zombie swatting, to vehicle races, to hostage rescues, to boss fights. Missions generally come strung together in a series, with players scored against each other based on achievements, and and also as a team. Power-ups and weapons abound, and players can build their personal power-up bars by killing zombies, unleashing their special moves once the bar is charged up.

And many zombies will be killed in Super Ultra Dead Rising 3 Arcade Remix Hyper Edition EX Plus Alpha. Many, many, many zombies. In fact, most levels present players with an endlessly respawning supply of the things, and theyre not too much of a threat (assuming you dont act like a complete idiot and get yourself cornered). Unlike its parent game, the point of "...Plus Alpha" is not simply to survive against tough odds. Instead, the point is to go crazy with superhero-like powers in a free environment where you can kick tons of butt with your three closest friends.

There is a lot to love about Dead Rising 3’s latest DLC. For $10 it is impossible not to recommend to Xbox One owners who still have the game, especially those with a fondness for classic Capcom titles.

Thankfully the game is a lot of fun!

More of the same goofy, eccentric zombie-killing action Dead Rising fans love, sprinkled with Capcom callouts. [Sept 2014, p.96]

An ambitious game that’s fun while it lasts. Unfortunately, it lasts a little too long, especially if you’re dying to see what Annie looks like dressed up as a Breath of Fire character.

Capcom loves Capcom and this is what you're gonna find out playing this strange and fascinating DLC. But if you plan to play it alone, think twice, as it could turn out to be a rather boring experience.

A funny cooperative DLC that will appeal to both zombie killers and nostalgic gamers of the classic era of Capcom.

Super Ultra Hyper Remix Dead Rising 3 Arcade Edition EX Plus Alpha is a journey into the past that traces all the masterpieces of Capcom. Unfortunately, the result is repetitive gameplay, though things improve if the campaign is played in coop.

THIS is what the DLC should have been from day 1! Not the single player stuff. It's 4 player fun with tons of stuff to unlock. Sadly thisTHIS is what the DLC should have been from day 1! Really fun throwback to the classic Capcom games from years past. Glad this DLC supports coop play (up to 4 players). It's not super challenging, but it's a really fun stroll down memory lane with some classic Capcom content. Nice to see some content that doesn't take itself to seriously, a welcome breath of fresh air to the grays and browns of today's video games. Expand

The DLC is short, rather boring, and feels like it was a design school grad project. It panders to a community without actually giving them anything to really play. It would have been great if instead of just some costumes, they gave us a larger variety of levels to play, like a Mega Man themed side scrolling level, or perhaps a top town shooter payin homage to the 1940 series. No instead you get some cheap powerups, silly costumes, and a stage to beat up a car. All things that were already in DR3.

If you liked Dynasty Warriors, this might be for you. If you like games that have substance, this is not for you. You can't even wear the costumes in the original game! This DLC was done of the cheap to try to make DR3 profitable. Refusing to make this part of the season pass ensures that no one will play this pointless expansion that adds nothing to the game.
