Wo Long: Fall Dynasty is a near flawless game and what I hope is just an intro to this fantastic world. Team Ninja have crafted a game that takes the basic structure of Nioh and other Souls-likes and creates their own unique, rewarding, and brutally challenging experience. In its almost forty hour campaign I was constantly surprised by the amount of new locations, creative boss fights, and sheer ambition of the game. It may be early in the year, but I’d be surprised if any game beats Wo Long for the top of my year-end list.
Even though the infamous Nioh title is absent in the Team Ninja’s newest soulslike experience, there is no doubt that it possesses the very same qualities as its predecessors. Visceral and hardcore combat mechanics are used against the most horrific of demons. Our nameless hero will explore the chunks of a wonderful world inspired by the Romance of Three Kingdoms whilst trying to bring peace to a war-torn feudal China. This cryptically epic horse ride will surely confuse you, make you cry with rage and mostly teach you the art of parry timings.

Spent innumerable hours playing and perfecting skills. Each DLC adds new content to never make the game dull. Enjoy every aspect of the character individuality and weapon and sorcery complementary behavior. 100% worth the time and investment

After Nioh, Team Ninja once again proves its great mastery of action-RPG with Wo Long Fallen Dynasty. Admittedly, the copy is not perfect (bestiary not provided enough, rather disappointing endgame, side missions which take up areas already visited) but the gameplay is so solid that we are ready to excuse almost everything! Here, it's all about parry, martial arts and spells, in a novel approach for the genre. Most of the atmospheres are successful, there is plenty to choose your path as a warrior and everything is even more accessible than the studio's Japanese Souls-like. An excellent pickaxe.
If you asked me a week ago, I would've been really down on Wo Long: Fallen Dynasty. The game's uneven difficulty delivers a tough introduction before settling into something more comfortable. Whilst the game doesn't explain itself well, there are many systems here you can prod and tinker with. Hopefully this will provide some varied playstyles. Combat really shines, despite the simplistic movesets. Navigation between missions feels clumsy but those levels are smartly designed. Moving through the world has been compelling and enjoyable, even if I do find the storytelling to be rather hokey.
Wo Long: Fallen Dynasty is an excellent action game, and a tightly-focused, well-executed example of why Team Ninja is often mentioned in the same breath as FromSoftware. Razor-sharp combat that wields the power of momentum with deft ease, supported by intricate and well-designed levels, against the backdrop of an over-the-top historical fantasy? It’s just a shame about the quality-of-life aberrations that constantly chip away at your morale.
Wo Long packs in some novel gameplay mechanics, but it might not be the hardcore experience fans of the genre are seeking.
Wo Long is a hair's breadth from cohesiveness, but much like the game's antagonists, it slips through your fingers just when you think you've got it. Come on, Team Ninja. You've almost got it.

Combat focuses heavily on dodging/parrying attacks. It’s a little hard to get used to at first on PS5 as the input for parry AND dodge is circle. Parries don’t even look like parries, they look like dodges. But it does work. The combat loop is ‘press circle every time the enemy does an attack, get an attack in on your own occasionally, then when the enemy does a red attack, press circle at the right time and then do a critical attack’ rinse repeat.
As for difficulty, a couple of bosses can be tricky but it’s nowhere near as hard as other souls likes, for example Lies of P or Elden Ring. There’s the occasional tricky boss than can then be followed by a boss u clear in one try.
The story never was interesting for me. Do note that I haven’t finished the game or anything. I just think some of it is a bit cheesy and so I was never playing the game to see what would happen next.
Overall it is fun but not an S-tier soulslike or anything,

Wo Long introduces innovations like morale/fortitude levels and deflects mechanics. However, the simplified weapon and action systems diminish the game's depth and replay value. Also, it falls short in narrative adaptation and historical exploration compared to its predecessor. It paves a new path for the series but lacks maturity in various aspects, leaving room for improvement in sequels.

As someone who acquired a platinum on nearly all dark souls/bloodborne likes games I hated this game.Most games at this level give you several means to victory over bosses but in this game it’s through a counter system if you don’t master it you can’t progress much in the game. That alienates a lot of advanced players that have their own approach to winning. The magic in this game is underwhelming and lack lackluster. The story is so disappointing, the protagonist doesn’t talk yet there are several npc that have complete conversations with him, makes no sense. And you always arrive to the boss fight a minute late and the person you’re trying to save is too far gone. While there is a small group of real players that will enjoy this game, most that like this game simply like it because they can make progress in this due to the game offering the option to have several npc support members in your team that reduces difficulty. These players that claim to like this game hated games like Sekiro, Demon souls, Mortal shell, lies of p and so on of difficulty and this game lets them feel like they can play these type of games. This game isn’t difficult it just has a lot of artificial difficulty to frustrate players. The developers did a half fast job and it shows. I would rather watch the movie Barbie than play this game again.

My friend beat the game with the starting sword. All weapons feel like **** Farming simulator. Boring ball busting boss fights. I rather play dark souls or elden ring.
