  1. Whereas most types of gamers are likely to enjoy "SSX 3," only those with an interest in snowboarding will fully appreciate Amped 2.

It's also refreshing that, instead of a wilder arcade-like approach, the game portrays the sport more realistically; it’s a bit more work to pull off a dizzying spin or flip, as it would be in real life.
  3. Gives you a bit more "professionalism" than the arcade feel of SSX so it’s a nice blend of arcade fun and authenticity.
  4. With all-or-nothing rail and jump placement, the game can sometimes feel shorter and more difficult than it really is, while at other times a bit too easy. [Dec/Jan 2004, p.91]
  5. Rejects spectacle in favour of the sort of satisfaction that results from a slow culmination of small triumphs—a video unlocked here, a trickbook completed there. In the end, though, it's because of this very process that Amped 2 fails to evoke the butterflies-in-the-stomach level of excitement that I get from playing the very best video games.
  6. Microsoft's biggest mistake with Amped 2 was not in shunning its chief competitor's vivacious aerial antics, but in failing to mimic its ease of control and combo structure - areas where the "less is more" idiom could most do with application.
  7. Disappointment, thy name is Amped 2. [Christmas 2003, p.122]

Still the best realistic snowboarding game to date! (It's 2012). Why? Amped 2 does right with providing actual landings and probably jumpStill the best realistic snowboarding game to date! (It's 2012). Why? Amped 2 does right with providing actual landings and probably jump cheese-wedges that makes the game realistic feeling compared to those other snowboarding games that build massive jumps to flat landings. The game may be dated, but the gameplay, the controller setup, and the way the game functions is incredible for a game made in 2003. It's fun, addictive, and will have you replaying it until the year 2012. Until, someone decides to build the "skate" of all snowboarding games. Until then, Amped 2 still beats SSX, Amped 3, and so forth. Expand

Sorry, but SSX is, and always has been, more fun. Amped isn't without its merits, but I just didn't get into it as much.

This might be one of the biggest disappointments in console history. The original Amped was sweet! The jumps are in slow motion and the speed of the game is ridiculously tuned down. Collapse
