  • Summary: The Army Men series is back in Army Men: Major Malfunction. The game features over 30 missions, 23 different enemy toys, over 16 lethal weapons, and different games modes.

  3. Negative: 6 out of 6
  1. The fact is that it's just not much fun to play. The camera is a headache waiting to happen and the rest of the gameplay mechanics don't fare much better.
  2. Tedious in a way we can barely describe, and almost broken in places. Don't buy this. [Sept 2006, p.76]
  3. The done-to-death concept and boring missions don't do the game any favours. [July 2006, p.67]
  4. This poorly designed shooter, with awkward controls and particularly shoddy sound, comes off as an embarrassing attempt to cash in on a franchise name that wore out its welcome years ago.
  5. Someone desperately needs to declare the Army Men franchise KIA, and spare gamers from any future war atrocities. We surrender! [July 2006, p.81]

Poor presentation, the lack of any multiplayer modes, repetitive gameplay and frustrating controls doom Major Malfunction from the very start.
