Simply a phenomenal experience, online and off, that should be played by any FPS fan, or just action game fans in general.
  2. Battlefield 2 should be the benchmark for any future first person war shooter on the Xbox.
  3. Same killer and addictive online gameplay you'd expect from Battlefield.
  4. A bit of a paradox. While the graphics are poor, the sound is much more developed. The controls are great for while on foot, but vehicles take some adjustment.
  5. Online play has been Battlefield's strongest feature up until now. In this version the single player mode rivals the online mode.
  6. The controls are not as tight as you want when your virtual life is on the line. [Jan 2006, p.64]
  7. Little more than a shooting gallery, especially in single-player mode. [Feb 2006, p.88]

The thing about Battlefield 2: MC, is that it has glaring errors, glitches, and issues aplenty. However, as soon as you find a comfort zone while playing online, you will forget about every single one of them. The game is just so satisfying. Every kill is an adrenaline rush, every flag being attacked will have you peeking over your shoulder, looking to the skies, and listening for the rumble of the inevitable tank that's always just around the corner. It really emphasized team mechanics and communication. The tension is usually so thick you can cut it with a knife. Despite all of it's flaws, and there are more than a few, it is one of the most addictive games I've ever had the pleasure of playing. Also, the experience on the XBOX seemed to trump that of the XBOX 360, and I never could figure out why... Expand

This game is great! I usually suck at any kind of FPS, but this was easy to pick up and get involved with. The visuals are great, too. Great game to play. Much better than the RainbowSix/Socom/GhostRecon game series. Expand

Well, well, well. I'd read about the freezing issues online and off. Never had problems before. This is the first xbox game I had to return(ever). Turns out some EA games don't work on certain machines (optical drive issue- my machine is less than 1 year old as well. If the CD tray doesn't have 2 round holes in it then you may have problems- made strange clicking noises). The guys at my local game store (Toronto) swapped my machine, free of charge and game now works fine. EA do piss me off sometimes-apparently its got something to do with a coating on the disk that causes problems. Anyway- after first level (had a very arcadey feel to it) I started to get into it. Am really enjoying the single player game now. Graphics are good, gameplay is good, maps are huge, love the hotswap feature. Only got stuck up in a railing once and died pretty quick so no problem. NO CRASHES OR FREEZES.Haven't played online. Overall really enjoying it- lots of extra bonus missions- racing humvee's, boats, hotswap contests etc. Definately worth the purchase in the end, even though it was a pain in the ass getting my unit replaced. When I first started playing this game, I would have given it a 10, but not now. I've played about 45 of the 200 single player missions and I've played multiple hours online as well. The single player is awesome....worth an 8.5 out of 10. The multiplayer was awesome at first...that was until I figured out how uneven the game can be. The helicopter takes skill to fly, so once you master it you expect to be able to just take down tanks left and right...not the case. Anyone can be a sniper on the map, and the sniper has the ability to "laser target" helicopters and blow them out of the sky. So everytime I'm in a chopper I get shot down by a simple sniper. Also, snipers can shoot across the entire map, so as you're running you get shot out of nowhere, which can be quite angering. If you have ever played Halo 2 online and you're up against a team that has the sniper rifle and uses it well, then you'll understand how uneven this game feels. Expand

Yet another PS2 game running on XBOX hardware. Electronic Arts is now the number 1 laziest developer in the universe. Apart from the horrific graphics and the stupid "bark a couple of military style scream-command at the already confused player" attitude theres this whole "Unlock" system with the weapons straight out of games we got bored with two generations ago. Q-How do you make a 10 minute game last an hour? A-Introduce 6 unlockables! Putting a sniper on a tower with a short range shotgun just because you havent unlocked even an M16 yet is nothing short of cheap game lengthening. Expand
