While the rest of the world pants about the nonsensical "Morrowmind," the pinnacle of action role-playing is right under their noses. Wake up and smell the mace. [Aug 2002, p.58]

If you can take the time to understant the nuances that went into this game, you'll come to the startling revelation that Enclave is a medieval "Max Payne." The control schematic is a perfect match. [Aug 2002, p.84]

While the game features stunning graphics, clear and realistic sound, and RPG elements to heighten the games longevity, there are some major set backs with the control, the A.I., the battling, and others areas.
  4. Chances are a good number won't be able to forgive the incredibly high level of difficulty--or, rather, be forgiven by it, especially considering the inability to save in the middle of the game's long levels.
  5. The trouble with Enclave is the camera system. It seems geared toward exploration, one-on-one combat and not mass combat, therefore allowing even a group of lowly enemies to inflict significant damage from 'cheap' shots.
  6. Enclave has so much promise that it's a shame it's crippled by one key design flaw. While the occassional checkpoint exists just before the battles with big boss characters, they are so rare that you may very well never see one.

The game doesn't control very well; sluggish fighting mechanics spoil what would otherwise be a worthwhile package. [Sept 2002, p.40]

Great game!!! very underated and quite fun after playing it for about 2 hours.... u get into it with all the gold and new equipment unlocked. graphics good, gameplay, okay... the bow is hard to shoot and the sword swings are weird and slow. reminds me of LOTR a bit, good variety, kight, bow person, magician... basic and easy to get into. i got it for $10 used. :D just like goin to a movie, but better. also check out Ninja Gaiden if youre looking for good sword swinging gameplay!!! The combat in this game was fun and the rewards for exploration and clearing levels appropriately were well worth the effort. It must be said, however, that this game can be simultaneously punishing and unforgiving...if you die, you start over, and you will die a lot! However, the accomplishment you feel for pushing through yet another level stands a bit taller than most other games, with completing the game (minus cheats, of course) standing high on my list. Definitely worth a look from the bargain bin! Expand

GREAT visuals, draw distance on all that but the combat is too repetitive, too HARD, and there is NO SAVE POINTS!!!, plot and character GREAT visuals, draw distance on all that but the combat is too repetitive, too HARD, and there is NO SAVE POINTS!!!, plot and character development is simple yet interesting and not over complicated. (Also Jim C although the water looks good on first sight its not really reflective, and doesn't interact with the enviroment - check Morrowind and you'll see what i mean) Expand

Some of the levels are long so it's very irratating. If they allowed partial saves throughout a level, I would have given this game a few more points. Expand
