A character's life story is created from childhood through adulthood and on to old age. One can grow from an inexperienced child into the most powerful being in the world, spoken of by all and immortalized in legend. As additional story and side quests await, so too does the path of righteousness, as well as the life of evil. With every choice, a character transforms into a reflection of his actions and decisions. Age leaves characters wizened and battle leaves characters scarred in the world of Fable: The Lost Chapters. The Lost Chapters looks as good as the original game, which still can hold its own against any other game released on Microsoft's game system.
  2. If you simply can't get enough Fable, then by all means give the developers and publisher some more of your hard earned cash.
  3. The game addresses one of the chief concerns of the first Fable, its length.
  4. While the main game can take about 15 hours at most to beat, completing all of the additional side-quests may take you up to three times as long.
  5. The story is tightly linear, so it's hard to make your character's tale your own.
  6. It's great fun to build your own good or evil hero, and with the Lost Chapters content, there are easily 20-plus hours of fun to be mined out of it. [Jan 2006, p.58]

RPGs as indistinct and shallow as Fable are rare, and for good reason.

The combat is still solid enough to meet today's standards in well made games. There's plenty of different armor sets, and you can mix match. I played this game when it first came out, and I still play it today-- the story line is a gripping one, and lets you choose here and there what you want to do based on bad or good. Your appearance even changes due to the choices. There's multiple ways of making money for an Action RPG, from just killing monsters, to renting out houses and collecting the money. I have played all the Fables, and the first is still by far the best. If you haven't played it and are skeptical on buying it, I highly recommend this game. Collapse

Too bad they stopped building on these algorithms in later Fable games. Expand

More of an expansion pack than anything! Im afraid that Fable bit off ten times more than it could chew with the whirlwind of RPG greatness More of an expansion pack than anything! Im afraid that Fable bit off ten times more than it could chew with the whirlwind of RPG greatness it promised prior to release...and fell flat at Morrowinds feet after release. Its just too limiting, the whole world is just a highway from Bowerstone in the North to Twinblades camp in the south, the new areas are nothing special and the sidequests are more like pointless busywork to make the most of the fishbowl-like environment you feel trapped in. Claustraphobia ahoy! Expand
