Forza Motorsport is one of the best accessible surprises in 2023. Turn 10 Studios’ dedication to disabled players is tangible as soon as one starts the game. It’s beyond refreshing to finally have a racing title that physically disabled individuals can confidently purchase knowing they will be able to successfully complete every race. And as the industry continues to acquire new accessibility knowledge and improve upon itself, Forza Motorsport should be viewed as the beginning of a new accessibility era.
After many years Forza Motorsport returns triumphantly, offering a truly great driving model, huge selection of cars and beautiful visuals. Nevertheless, there are some small technical kinks present and a slight shortage of racing tracks, issues that will most probably be ironed out in the next months.
Although it may lack personality, Forza Motorsport is one of the most technically impressive games in existence. The handling and generosity of this iteration make it the best car game around.
With this Forza Motorsport 2023 edition, Turn 10 resets the counters and delivers a car racing game with a titanium chassis capable of carrying the license for several years. Beautiful, fluid, offering very good "simcade" driving sensations, it offers the right modes with the necessary parameters to satisfy almost everyone. Both ultra permissive (in its challenge) and restrictive (in the improvements to be unlocked), this reboot is a bit of a search. Aiming at a very wide audience thanks to its numerous options, it is nonetheless dedicated to fans of pretty cars, those who are able to go beyond its definitively austere appearance (and the absence of urban circuits) to let themselves be captivated by the joys of motorized competition, both solo and online. Nice job.
Forza Motorsport is a beautiful and fast experience, but one that slows itself down to the pace you need while still keeping you solely behind the wheel. You can opt for as little or as much assistance and realism as you desire, and players of all kinds will find exactly what they want from the game. Whether it’s a simulation that you will have to master, or something where you just want to hold accelerate and feel the thrill of racing in a high-speed competitive sport without having to think too much about it, Forza Motorsport is prepared to suit those needs.
I’m not sure I’ve ever played a racing game that feels better than Forza Motorsport. Whether you’re controlling the fastest car in the game or the slowest, it’s compelling to push each vehicle to its limits and keep finding ways to improve your ride. I wish the experience around this core gameplay found more ways to create a compelling journey, but fans of the genre are mainly coming for the racing itself, and they’ll find everything they need in Forza Motorsport.
I'm absolutely sure that with a few extra doses of content, this could be a dream game for racing fans. As it stands, I'm sadly just missing a bit more gameplay here to hold it all together.
Amazing graphics, realistic handling, soundsGreat, realistic physics and Raytracing on track. Game is absolutely gorgeous. So much to do in this game it’s insane. 10/10 would re come d to any racing fans.
Ok so the driving feels great, and the cars look great (even though they sometimes imported old models). The customisation options are amazing and lets you play around with the car settings as much as you want to get the most out of it. The accessibility to this game is something no other racing game has ever done before. A blind person can play this game. The multiplayer is fun (more on that later).
Now for some of the negatives. The career is fine but really unexciting. Just a series of races with no motivation apart from having completed them for a reward that is often not very good. The multiplayer is lacking in diversity and modes. The ranking system can often feel a bit random. And the penalty system can also feel very random. For example, you will be taking a corner, someone will drive full speed into you and you will be the one awarded with a 4s time penalty. Yes, this has happened to me numerous times. But other than that the game is fun.
If you're comparing this game to Forza Horizon, you're doing it wrong. The two are chalk and cheese.
The tracks and cars are absolutely stunning. There is no doubt that this is the most beautiful game I've played on my Series X as of 2024. The cars feel good and the tuning & upgrading is definitely in-depth enough to get what you want out of your selected cars.
The single player experience really doesn't go into too much depth. It gives you a selection of cars, you pick one, you drive it for 5-6 races, then repeat. There's absolutely no narrative, despite the minor level of real life history you get from a narrator at the beginning of each builders cup.
The multiplayer has a split community. Some will play as cleanly as possible throughout the whole race to maintain enjoyment for all involved. Some will 'revenge' spear you just for being near them 30 seconds ago. Of course, the state of the community does not hinder my review as this is not a result of Turn10 development, just a useful note for any readers.
The game does not run perfectly. The game crashed on me 3 or 4 times this week (18/02/24), and has crashed throughout its release so far. There are occasional texture bugs causing the sky and parts of the track to flicker, which honestly doesn't happen too often.
Overall, this game can be as equally as fun as it is frustrating on multiplayer, and you will find yourself getting a little sleepy if you're trying to finish the single player. But honestly, as a circuit based racing 'simulator' all in all it is pretty good and I might make a return just to play with friends in the future.
