Excellent car models, lighting, and reflection effects help the smooth visuals create a sense of blazing speed, and the beautifully detailed tracks are punctuated by vicious turns and loops that require you to master braking and powersliding without losing too much velocity.
  2. Offers gamers a solid racing experience that might leave some gamers wanting more.
  3. You have to keep buying new cars to progress. Because you are discouraged from altering your autos, you just forget about them, which severs any possible emotional connection this game attempts to develop. [Sept 2003, p.121]
  4. Unfortunately, the game suffers from so much slowdown when multiple cars are onscreen that it curtails any fun you might be having. [Sept 2003, p.116]

The frame rate issues are annoying as is the menu system. The handling, which doesn’t feel right initially, isn’t so bad once you get the hang of it. However, the driving genre is a particularly tough market, especially when the game at the top of league is so good.
  6. The ridiculous handling makes these additional modes practically impossible to play.
  7. 25
Anytime there are more than a couple cars onscreen, the game chugs and stutters like crazy. That's unforgivable on hardware this powerful. [Sept 2003, p.60]

After playing this game for a while, I can give the unrealistic/Sloppy handling some slack. After you get use to it, it's not so bad for an arcade racer. The GFX are good (tho I don't see why there are slowdowns as a Game like Gotham Racing has much more detail and never slows down, I guess it's in the coding) I was just getting into the swing of having to work a bit for the $$$ untill I opened A-Class, now it's Much too easy to Rack up the Bucks!! (All I had to do to be able to afford the High Dollar cars was run A-Class Shibuya A II with the Integra Type-R(01) B-class, win easy and grab 5 million a race!) But other than that...it's a decent Ride =) Expand

So let me get this straight...only three environments to race in...and an unlock system to force me to play through? You forced too hard, now I dont want to play anymore! Collapse
