Fights are fast and furious, and there’s no shortage of splashy, flashy special effects.
  2. For a game that has been around for three years, it still performs admirably and stacks up well against today's most sophisticated fighters in terms of graphics and replay value. [May 2003, p.91]
  3. At times moves at speeds that will have you saying “Wow” and delivers a great game.
  4. A near-exact port of a dated game, and as such is not impressive visually. [June 2003, p.84]
  5. The Xbox controller, even if you’re using the S-type controller, isn’t suited for a game like this, which really needs six thumb buttons. You can compensate with the trigger sticks, but not well.
  6. 75
This game is utterly and completely insane. [June 2003, p.54]
  7. What would have been the game's ultimate saving grace - infinite human opponents online, courtesy of Xbox Live - isn't available either. [June 2003, p.75]
  8. This game does not use the Xbox anywhere near its potential.
  9. Why in heaven's name would you make the first game ("Capcom Vs SNK 2") have Live, and not this one? If Namco can toss Link into "Soul Caliber 2," the least Capcom could have done was tossed in Blanka.
  10. Does a good job of topping the other hit Capcom fighter, "Capcom vs. SNK 2 EO." It provides better control with more familiar characters, as well as adding the tagging feature.
  11. 65
A fun but dated 2D fighter with too high a price and no new features.
  12. An obsolete 3-year-old fighting game that doesn't even support online play as was originally promised.
  13. It is fair to compare MVC2 to the less pixilated, more balanced, online-enabled, and just plain superior "Capcom vs. SNK2." Against that heavyweight, this codger has no chance. [June 2003, p.112]
  14. There's plenty to discover and see, but because it's almost just as easy to button bash as it is to perform the moves properly: the longevity is seriously affected.
  15. Just imagine what it could've been like if Capcom had put some effort into it.
  16. Should have been pushed back even further if only to deliver the key online element.
  17. While it does retail for 10 bucks less than most other brand new games, marketing a 5 year old game for 40 bucks is still ridiculous.
  18. 39
It's not an online fighting game as originally promised and instead is just another 2D fighter with outdated graphics on the most powerful home console around.
  19. A stale and astoundingly pixelated port of a two-year-old Dreamcast game. [Fall 2002, p.121]

I love these characters. The xbox d pad isn't really good enough for proper control in this game, but otherwise it's a solid game. Capcom's sure milking it though. You'd think they could have added something to this port. Full Review »
