  1. Bitchin' fun, dude! Takes you right back to the roaring road-rage days of the arcade.

Sure, it doesn't have 20 games like last year, but the quality of the ones included is considerably better.
  3. A very clever, themed compilation. The $20 would definitely be worth it just for the Rush and Thunder games, though it is nice to see a bit of the company's origins.
  4. Whatever else is coming, you'd best believe I'll be there with bells on... and you should as well.

The games are a blast worth remembering. Old racing is the new hotness. [Oct 2005, p.128]

In spite of a few hiccups, I'd say that this is a fantastic collection of games.

"Rush 2049" is the headliner of this year's pack, and even if it was released by itself it would still be worth the budget price that the Midway Arcade Treasures is known for.
  8. Excellent port and great value for nostalgic gamers.

Too bad Midway didn't ship it with a freely spinning steering wheel. [Nov 2005, p.124]
  10. While it may not be that fully complete in terms of history chronicling and emulating, it does manage to provide hours of fun on end- and at a $20 bargain price, no less.
  11. Some games, like San Francisco Rush 2049 play perfectly on the Xbox and Hydro Thunder is still fun after all these years. Other games just don't feel or play as good as it use to thanks to the awkward control scheme.
  12. Of all three Midway Arcade Treasures games, this is the one that probably has the most amount of games you won't want to play for any length of time.
  13. With the chance to post your scores on the net, this one has a lot of playability if you are one who thrives on those bragging rights.
  14. The fact that Midway has pared down the number of games from previous offerings does not worry me nearly as much as how much they pared down the historical extras.

Although the reviews are mixed, I thought this was the company's best retro offering so far. Sure, two games were altered drastically Although the reviews are mixed, I thought this was the company's best retro offering so far. Sure, two games were altered drastically from their arcade ports (SF Rush via sound, Offroad Thunder runs at 20, not 30 or 60 like it should), but this is still a great collection that should be with every arcade racing gamer's collection, particularly if you were a fan of any arcade racing game made at or after the time of OutRun. Also, it works amazingly well with a MadCatz MC2 racing wheel albeit a weird control scheme for Race Drivin'. Full Review »
