  1. Without question, EA's latest baseball title is our choice for best baseball game for 2003. [Apr 2003, p.70]
  2. Washes away all of the bad memories of the "Triple Play" series and has changed the way I will look at pitching, fielding and batting in baseball games going forward - this game is that innovative.
  3. The best baseball game of the season. [Apr 2003, p.93]
  4. For implementing a great new pitching system (that blows every other off the plate), taking risks by omitting several deeply rooted clichés and basically being the first really new baseball game in at least 2 years, MVP Baseball 2003 deserves your attention.
  5. A good game that sparkles with player animation and modeling, and the franchise mode is a delight.

If you are the sort who grabs a baseball game to get down in the trenches and swing that bat, then MVP Baseball 2003 is going to be your game. On the flip side, if you prefer the intricacies of management, "World Series Baseball 2K3" is the better choice.
  7. There is just something about this game that makes me want to play more of it…I, like other people have said, still have no clue what it is though.
  8. 85
MVP's pitcher/batter interface alone makes for thrilling head-to-head play.
  9. It can't match up to the depth and graphics of "WSB," but if you like to play through multiple seaons, this is the best choice. [Apr 2003, p.82]
  10. The quick pace and the continuous user input is rather enjoyable but in the end, it can’t shake off some of its quirks for the one player game.
  11. The new pitching and hitting systems are magic in the making and will really test the baseball gaming market to see if anyone can counter what EA Canada has done with MVP 2003.
  12. Besides the lack of truly original modes, the only other major problem I had with the game was the batting A.I. It seems impossible to get the computer batter to swing at a pitch outside the strike zone.

MVP earns props for looking good and trying something new while delivering solid baseball. "High Heat" is a much better playing ballgame, but MVP will appeal to baseball fans intrigued by its individuality.
  14. It should satisfy players who don't care about all the miscellaneous nuances of the sport, or who aren't looking to immerse themselves in a complicated franchise mode.
  15. Breathtakingly good when it comes to stadium detail, batting stances, facial expressions, facial expressions and the like, [but] the game lacks an essential bit of realism that keeps it from elite status. [Apr/May 2003, p.90]
  16. A totally new game. Unfortunately, it lacks the depth of the other games here, and therefore won't satisfy hardcore baseball fans. [Apr 2003, p.64]
  17. It's too hard to steal bases against the computer and throw computer stealers out. Computer batters are far too patient at the plate... It is worth checking out.
  18. If you can get past some of MVP’s fielding glitches, and appreciate this offensive driven baseball title, then you will be in for a delightful surprise this season.

I think it's hard to make strike out. and CPU only swings at a strikeball.

Pitching/Batting interface rocks. But, the game must have skipped some part of bug testing cuz all sorts of glitchy crap happens all the time. Some times you will run your fielders to pick up a ball in the outfield an you will run up and right when you are about to pick up the ball it switches your control to a different player until u have 4 guys around the ball and cant have any of them pick it up. FRUSTRATING describes playing franchise mode on this. My second baseman broke his ankle when he swung at a ball once! If you can get past the glitches, this game is a great game. Full Review »
