90A very, very good motocross/freestyle program, featuring excellent graphical elements and sound. If this is the type of game you enjoy, you wont find many better (at the moment) in the world of either console or PC games.
-
Not since "Excitebike 64" for the now-defunct Nintendo 64 and the original "Motocross Madness" for the PC have I enjoyed a motocross game as much as MX 2002 featuring Ricky Carmichael.
-
80With it's sharp detail and exciting racks, along with the fluid anaimation of the riders and the crowded racing field (with little slow-down) it's simply the best motocorss game available, and the X-Box secures it's place as one of the best looking motocross games of all times.
-
Using [the controls] correctly along with the right gas and breaking, the game has a groove all its own, along with killer visuals to match. [Feb 2002, p.58]
-
76The racing system is good enough that you can forget all about the tricks and still have a great time. The controls for pulling off tricks are simple and easy, but yet allow for the extreme in all of us to enjoy this game.
-
75It's not bad at all. But I expect a lot more, visually and feature-wise, when a game gets ported to the Xbox whether it's taking advantage of the powerful graphic capabilities or utilizing other Xbox features not found in other consoles.
-
75An enjoyable rental game. Rental game, of course meaning, rent this game. After a few hours, maybe a weekend at the most, the game begins to lose its shine and quickly becomes dull.
-
Scorned like the sport itself, the Xbox controller positively redeems itself in this incarnation. [Jan 2002, p.86]
-
Overall, the game is fun to play, if lacking in certain technical areas.
-
73The game is fun to play, has solid control, and plenty of tracks, but nothing about it screams out for attention.
-
71With a number of real-world tracks, well-designed fantasy courses, and a couple of exclusive features, this edition of MX 2002 delivers everything that the PS2 version had to offer--and a little bit more.
-
THQ failed deliver a very impressive port of an already unimpressive game.
-
It's fine for the PS2, but we would have liked a little more polish for the Xbox. [Feb 2002, p.73]
-
Disappointingly uninspired. [Jan 2002, p.94]
-
The ease of control and built-in tutorials keep everything surprisingly accessible a very nice balance. [Jan 2002, p.31]
