  1. In the end this game delivers what you would expect, a collection of classic titles from the days of yore. For the decent price of the title it's not a bad little collection.
  2. Although many of the older titles here, like Galaxian, Xevious and Rally X are undoubtedly dated, they're still faithful to the originals, which will surely please the misty-eyed nostalgia freaks among you.
  3. A nifty 3D interface showing the arcade cabinets themselves is a nice touch, giving you an impression of browsing the arcade looking for the best spot to dump your quarters, and the soundtrack (licensed eighties rock) is a nice touch, but I still want more.

While the game should have included at least a little bit of museum-quality extras, at $20 it's still a hard deal to pass up.
  5. The large selection of titles is a great value for $19.99 and they are all still plenty of fun to play, however the lack of any sort of bonus material is inexcusable, and when you consider that the majority of these games have been released in compilations from Namco before, the game's content simply doesn't live up to its celebratory billing.
  6. Despite the lackluster presentation, the games hold their own. Shooting for Galaga '88 High Scores is still as fun today as it was back in 1987.
  7. I had a blast playing through the titles I loved as a kid, and even enjoyed playing some of the crappier games I'd never experienced before, and for twenty bones the price isn't bad. For the fun, and nostalgia, the price of admission is worth the ride in this game's case.

A basic-yet-endearing trip down memory lane. Don't bother if you owned these games in a past life, though. [April 2006, p.92]

All of these games are fun to spend some time with, to a lesser or greater degree, but none of them will keep you entertained for very long, making this a nice filler for an hour between the other games you're currently playing.
  10. I enjoyed the games and will play them again, but have seen Namco bring out better collections and know they can add special features, this has none of them included.
  11. This is one of those budget games that offers a few hours of fun. You pop it in and play then return to it later on.
  12. But this compilation serves up all their gaming hits and, apart from proving just how far, thankfully, gaming has come in the last 25 years, it also manages to deliver nostalgia by the bucketload.
  13. Namco's back catalog deserves better than this slapped-together cash-in.

The minimal presentation, weak interface and comparatively paltry selection of titles hardly seems worthy of a golden anniversary. These games may be classics, but Namco's really pushing its luck here.

Where's the Namco background? Developer interviews? Designer retrospectives? It's a missed opportunity, and a massive disappointment.
  16. This is a good collection, but it's old. Not in the good, classical meaning of the word. Old as-in, repeat. It's been done before, and done well. There is no reason to have this unless you never touched the original Namco Museum.
  17. These games should be kept out of the hands of youth so as not to show them how ignorant we were when we were young.

I expected more games, but the ones that are here are good quality. The 5 second loading screens are ridiculous considering the games I expected more games, but the ones that are here are good quality. The 5 second loading screens are ridiculous considering the games probably 2% of the xboxes power. This package could also use some background info on these classic games. But as it is, I still think this is good value, as long as you don't own any namco museums from the past. It's also a complete rip off if you ever bought a previous namco museum. In that respect, I feel like Namco is milking it. Full Review »
