The final product comes off as anything but polished, and suffers from a lack of variety, and an overabundance of repetition that keeps this game from truly shining like I wished it would.
  2. The cartoon-like graphics are very cute — especially the pre-rendered cut-scene sequences — and the game play is challenging, though it might be a tad repetitive after a while.

The Gamespeak and platforming elements that were so fun in 1997 are now tedious. [Dec 2001, p.101]
  4. It lacks the certain fun factor that elevates a game to "must own" status instead of sitting at "rent a few times." Some of this is owed to the basic design of the game.
  5. Abe, Munch and all their pals are hilarious, but the gameplay gets repetitive, what with all the Spooce collecting and somewhat uninspired puzzles.
  6. While the characters gained even more charm and personality, the gameplay has suffered.

Though it's engaging, fun and novel for the first few hours, there's only so many ways you can come up with to use Abe and Munch's powers.

Strangers Wrath was an original take on the western genre, amplifying stereotypes and giving nods to the genre whilst all the while putting its own twist on the concept. Munch's Oddysee on the other hand is a horrific excursion into a 3d environment, offering little but token offering's to the lore and as a game implementing half baked gameplay mechanics, stiff character control and lackluster environments. On a more specific note, the moment Abe starts PUNCHING OUT SLIGS! is the moment the disc is ejected Full Review »
