  • Summary: The Veritech fighter--a mecha capable of fighting on land, in air, and in outer space--is the only weapon you have against the forces of the alien, Zentraedi. As the intrepid fighter pilot Jack Archer, you'll control this powerful robot through more than 40 missions. With each of the 40 Veritech fighters, you can switch from ground to hover and flight modes instantly. Battlecry's combination of fast-paced gameplay, freedom of movement, and dramatic storyline make for a unique combat experience. Expand

Transforming robots, stylish graphics and a huge variety of missions make up for the occasional bump in the road. [Nov 2002, p.72]
  2. Devotees of the old TV series will be thrilled. [Nov 2002, p.116]
  3. Despite the inclusion of original voice-talent from the show, cel-shaded graphics that closely mimick the Robotech universe, and the ability to transform the Veritech at will, the title still comes off as an average mech game with bland objectives and sloppy play-control.

However, the sheer agony induced (both physically and mentally) by the lazy implementation of the controls made me scream time and time again.

Terrific game for fans of the animation series. The cel shading helps the feel and they have done an awesome job creating a game that lets you get into the frantic firefights just like in the show! My only 2 regrets are that at times it is slow/difficult to control in Mech mode and the story could be improved. Expand

Very impressive capturing the feel of the anime series, but too bad the game itself is above average at best. Just doesn't feel like you are flying a fighter, more like Top Gun for Nintendo back in the day. The worse part is the multiplayer is a complete waste. What's up with only having one level to start out? Expand

The graphics and atmosphere are definitely neat, but I dislike the gameplay. The controls feel awkward, and the missions aren't exactly well designed. Expand
