  1. Offers one of the best stealth gameplay elements seen in an action title to date. I really got into that little combo move, cackling with glee when I snapped a neck or cursing when I flubbed the move and got taken down.

If you enjoyed the exploits found in "Splinter Cell," try out Rogue Ops. It’s not as intense or compelling, but the game still has enough action to satisfy even the most hardcore stealth hero.

Another minor issue is that while Nikki is death while on the stealthy offensive, she's not much good if the combat suddenly gets up-close... the moral of the story, we suppose, being don't let the enemy get close to begin with.
  4. And while Rogue Ops is still often a blast to play, the game’s lack of polish and numerous minor frustrations noticeably hamper the solid, if somewhat derivative, gaming experience that lies underneath.
  5. In some ways it plays worse than existing stealth/action games, especially when it comes to interacting with objects. The combat mode raises the gameplay level, but not enough to truly satisfy people that are familiar with other stealth titles.
  6. If you can get around the weaker aspects of the game, Rogue Ops should be a reasonably entertaining experience for stealth fans looking for their next fix.

Although technically sufficient, the deliberate pacing and occasional trial-and-error nature may turn some players off.
  8. Electronic Gaming Monthly
Besides the poor enemy A.I., the paint-by-numbers gameplay (requiring surgically precise cursor movement for actions like jumping or climbing) makes the action feel canned. [Dec 2003, p.195]
  9. 58
The puzzles suck; they're often obscure to the point of being ridiculous. Key items are frequently out of frame or hard to see, making progress without a cheat sheet nearly impossible.
  10. A stealth game that tries to be challenging but just ends up being punchy, moody and fickle. Not a pleasure to play. [GamesMaster]
  11. Definetly work on the camera...and add a jump button!
  12. Xbox Nation Magazine
The slightly clunky controls and contrived level design - with its faux open-ended gameplay - leave the impression of a hack job. Paint-by-numbers puzzles and stolid A.I., sadly, only dig the pit deeper. [Dec/Jan 2004, p.92]
  13. The limited interaction with the environment gets to be frustrating. Glass windows crack and crumble magnificently, but not always. Bodies fall into walls and disappear. Saving is unreliable.
