  • Summary: In the murky depths of the ocean, the fate of Reef City lies in the fins of one little fish--at least that's what he wants you to think. Dive into the underwater metropolis of Shark Tale and play as Oscar, a fast-talking fish whose little fib gets him into big trouble. Based on DreamWorks' animated film, Shark Tale features 25 missions that will have you exploring Reef City, racing through the coral, fighting Fish Fu and great white sharks, and dancing to the sounds of hip-hop tracks. 1. Shark Tale isn’t aimed at me. That said, I’m having a ball playing it with my wife. The game is squarely aimed at those who loved the recently-released movie but there is enough nostalgia there for the whole family to enjoy.
  2. Instead of a linear adventure, the game mixes different styles of gameplay into unrelated missions and while strange on paper, the gameplay works surprisingly well.
  3. After paying off the kids with more junk food I spent a few hours with the game myself. I found it ridiculously easy, except for the dancing segments, which were fairly difficult.
  4. Seasoned gamers and adults probably won’t get too much out of the simplistic gameplay and real lack of challenge.
  5. The replay value on offer in Shark Tale is very low. Once you pass through the entire game you probably won’t want to go back and experience it again, unless you’re a fanatic follower of the movie.
  6. All mini-game are extremely simplistic, and range in difficulty from absurdly easy to hair-pullingly frustrating. [Holiday 2004, p.80]
  7. It’s just so hard for me to warm up to this game for some reason. Maybe it’s the sloppy game play, lack of understandable plot, unlikable characters, or probably a combination of those things and more.
