Innovation, gameplay and realism is what makes ShellShock a fantastic game. The game does a great job at portraying the brutal atrocities and controversial actions of the Vietnam War Continually fighting through the game your surroundings change enough to keep you interested.
  2. It's the styling and attention to detail that makes the game work...This is not the best game you'll play all year, but it's certainly the most honest.
  3. Flat out awful mission and objective designs tear down what is really only a mediocre-at-best third person shooter engine.

Instead of the usual glorification of past conflict, Shellshock Nam' 67 hits hard with depictions of torture, graphic violence and summary execution carried out by both sides in the Vietnam war. This is a refreshing attempt to realistically portray the moral relativity of war. Unfortunately the moral aspect of Shellshock is as far as the realism extends with this title. The game is squad based and your teammates are invincible, that is, until they are scripted to die. The enemy AI is demented at best and the level design and graphics are below par for the Xbox. This game took me 4 and a half hours to go through on first attempt, with the achievement of medals being the only motivation to replay the game. For me, this wasn?t motivation enough. Shellshock falls into the 'Medal of Honour' category of war games, where your path is pre-determined and all that is required to progress the story is to keep killing the enemy until they're all dead. In spite of this game's attempts at creating an atmosphere, its technical and design flaws mean that it is little more than an average shooter. I generously give it 5/10. Expand
