Instead of the usual glorification of past conflict, Shellshock Nam' 67 hits hard with depictions of torture, graphic violence and summary execution carried out by both sides in the Vietnam war. This is a refreshing attempt to realistically portray the moral relativity of war. Unfortunately the moral aspect of Shellshock is as far as the realism extends with this title. This is a refreshing attempt to realistically portray the moral relativity of war. Unfortunately the moral aspect of Shellshock is as far as the realism extends with this title. The game is squad based and your teammates are invincible, that is, until they are scripted to die. The enemy AI is demented at best and the level design and graphics are below par for the Xbox. This game took me 4 and a half hours to go through on first attempt, with the achievement of medals being the only motivation to replay the game. For me, this wasn?t motivation enough. Shellshock falls into the 'Medal of Honour' category of war games, where your path is pre-determined and all that is required to progress the story is to keep killing the enemy until they're all dead. In spite of this game's attempts at creating an atmosphere, its technical and design flaws mean that it is little more than an average shooter. I generously give it 5/10. Expand

This game is actually pretty decent, considering there are only two other Vietnam games out there, and they both suck. It is a decent war themed third person shooter, and the mechanics are good. The graphics could be better, but they are not terrible, and yes you and your squad can heal up in time if you're not getting attacked, but if you think this makes it too easy, I suggest This game is actually pretty decent, considering there are only two other Vietnam games out there, and they both suck. Overall above average, but not great, but not bad either...... Expand

Critics bashed this game just like they did with Killzone. Game is just fun to play. Not very scary, but fun. If you like battle adventure games, this is the game for you.

The combat is very well implemented, taking place all round, over large distances and constantly second-guessing the player as to which direction to turn next. [Aug 2004, p.102]

On the plus side, what's there is competently done and is flecked with powerful moments of brutality. On the downside, these spots of overt anguish aren't dealt with particularly well and lead to a reduction of the overall effect.
  3. There are better shooters out on the market.
