The game tells a finely crafted and interesting story at its own pace, and those without the patience to appreciate it may not understand what all the fuss is about.
  2. Shenmue II's story is really what makes the game so enjoyable, and the plot is about as epic as they come...It has a few annoying flaws, but overall, it's my pick as the best Xbox adventure game of the year.
  3. The series, especially this installment, has become among the most memorable game-playing experiences of my life.
  4. The gameplay is streamlined a bit from the previous edition, and while the changes are minor, they're tweaks that simply smooth the way.
  5. If more effort had been expended so as to maximise this versionís potential, weíd have a real stunner here. As it stands, we have merely a decent conversion of a great game.
  6. I really wish Sega-AM2 had utilized the Xbox controller a lot better. No matter how you change the controls in options menu, Ryo still controls stiffly.
  7. The game may not have much in the way of replay value, but for bang for your buck, I think it packs enough punch the first time through.

LOVE this game... It should be game of the year. Other than the graphics, everything is perfect. Everything you ever want in a RPG game. LOVE this game... It should be game of the year. The only thing is I wish Yu Sazuki make the 3rd one come out sooner or tell us when it's gonna be available. He shouldn't leave us hanging like this! Expand

Quite how Shenmue 1 and 2 stack up to one another is unclear to me, as they are both breathtaking and outstanding in their own ways.

It's simply magical. It's hard to truly do this game justice with words, but it is an immersive, exciting, poetic and captivating experience that you will most likely remember and take with you forever.

The only possible flaw with Shenmue 2 is the occasional slowdown on Dreamcast I am unsure if it's been smoothed out for the Xbox version (quite likely).

Do yourself a favour and play Shenmue, you won't regret it!

More content than ever before, richer graphics, but not missing anything from the gameplay.
A stunning and enchanting game, a must have for anyone with a XBOX or Dreamcast console.

Perhaps there was an engrossing story behind it, but I never got past the annoying "jobs" and horrible voice-overs to care. I made the mistake of getting a part-time job dropping a marble and watching it bounce through nails repeatedly for over 5 minutes... borrrring. I wouldn't recommend this game to an enemy. Expand
