  1. An absolute must have for people who liked them back then and if you never actually played them... well, I'll hold back. Just buy this collection.

20 classic Sonic Team and Sega games perfectly emulated on the Xbox for $20; what's not to like?
  3. Ahhh, the memories. Anyway, all in all a nice compilation to have, especially if you spend your days on Ebay trying to find these games.
  4. 80
Despite its exclusions, though, Collection's large selection of titles for $19.99 is a tough thing not to recommend to anyone who calls himself a gamer. Even if a few of the games undeniably suck.
  5. The clever Comix Zone is a great bonus but the Game Gear titles are primitive and mere curiosities.

You can't find a better deal than 20 games for 20 dollars. While not every Sonic game is a winner, the majority are. These games, though old, are superior to Sega's more recent 3D Sonic offerings.
  7. For 20 bucks, this is almost a must-have for the old-school Sega nut inside us all. [Holiday 2004, p.67]
  8. While Sonic aficionados will be disappointed by the omission of a few notable titles, such as the superlative "Sonic CD," there's a ton of solid Robotnik-thwarting to be had with the Mega Collection Plus.
  9. If you grew up with these games, they're still a joy to play. New converts t the Sonic fold will get a great introduction to the 'hog's history. [Dec 2004, p.168]
  10. While not a definitive collection of Sonic memorabilia and games, it is damn close and definitely the best available on any console.
  11. All the titles are direct emulations so the sense of nostalgia is amazing and old-school gamers will dig the inclusion of Game Gear titles, unlockable Genesis games, and a few extras.
  12. None of the games runs in full-screen mode on Xbox, while the GameCube versions are identical to the 16-bit originals. [Jan 2005, p.98]
  13. Some less "hardcore" players will find themselves frustrated to a fault, as Tails falls into a pit of spikes for the hundredth time, but if you can put up with the heartbreak, harking back to ten years ago can be great fun.
  14. There's tons of bonus material on offer including comic covers and illustrations, and the option to save your game at any point is a godsend.
  15. Great gameplay for a nostalgic rainy day, however the amount of extras and longetivity is missing.
  16. If you don't already have these excellent games, then Mega Collection Plus is an awesome investment. [Nov 2004, p.76]
  17. The biggest problem we have with this game is the sad fact that a few of the games seem to suffer from occasional slowdown.
  18. 65
The games are just as you remember them, damn excellent, but the lack of bonus material and additional Sonic games severely hurts the overall package.
  19. It's quite hard to give a score to this collection. All the games are simply dated and don't offer anything to modern gamers. However, for the fans it's a trip down memory lane and the collection earns it's place in a collectors game collection. [May 2005, p.74]
