While other snowboarding games run out of steam mid-shred, the SSX series continues to gain momentum. [Dec 2003, p.44]

It’s the kind of game that can be played indefinitely and a player’s performance will continually improve. The tasks ahead look daunting at first, but the depth of the game quickly becomes a player’s best friend as each new play session introduces new surprises.
  3. One of the tightest games out there... there’s nothing that stands out as a negative, and everything else is a glaring positive. The abundance of ‘stuff to do’ keeps the gameplay fresh and makes 100% completion a task for the gods.
  4. If you enjoyed "SSX Tricky," you will love SSX 3--it's as simple as that. Even if you hated "Tricky," you still might dig this sequel.

It's a game that's just incredible fun, mixing in all sorts of gaming ideas with the thrill of the real sport, painting a final touch of extreme excess and color for scintillating effect. [Nov 2003, p.86]
  6. It's just so massively detailed, so thoroughly improved and so gloriously playable that we have to recommend it. We haven't even touched on the multiplayer aspect, which we'll be doing in our PS2 Online review very soon, but to be honest it wouldn't have to be good - the rest of the game is enough on its own.
  7. There's no denying that Amped is a far more accurate depiction of snowboarding as a sport, but if it's fun you want you can't go far wrong with this.

Now this is what it's all about. Anyone my age (older) remember the glory days when you hadn't seen it all yet, and there were Now this is what it's all about. Anyone my age (older) remember the glory days when you hadn't seen it all yet, and there were still games which could truly blow your mind and hook your thoughts and attention literally for hours at a single stretch? Well my friends, SSX3 is the ONLY game I can honestly say has had that effect on me in the last five, six, maybe even seven years. I absolutely, utterley adore this game, and feel like calling EA to send them my love and gratitude for renewing my faith. This is nothing short of perfection - beatufil beyond words, grand of scale and playable beyond description. Colour, speed, adrenaline, fun, fun, fun and fun. The best way I can try and get across how utterley gorgeous this thing is to play is to describe the Peak race experience. First imagine a snowboard game that has beautiful graphics, with snow you can almost feel. Second imagine that the experience of controlling your rider is as smooth as silk and just as pleasurable to the touch. Third and finally, think of a mountain in your XBOX, a mountain with slopes and drops and rocks and cliffs and crags and forests and little houses and avalanches and and and...a mountain that you can almost snowboard down along any route you choose to.. a mountain with HUGE drops that will have your heart in your mouth (I defy ANYONE not to let a 'whooooaaah!' slip out when you take that fall) ... a mountain that will take you 30 minutes (!!!!!!!!!!) to descend, from peak to foot!! 30 minutes of non-stop, glorious gaming!! Damn, I'm getting excited just THINKING about it. Look, just stop reading this and go and BUY IT, BUY IT, BUY IT. NOW! Expand

The best sports game ever and one of the greatest video games of all time.

Everything about this game is perfect. This was made during the "Golden Age of EA" from 2002-2007 and it clearly shows. EA may be a corporate cash cow now but back in the early 2000s, they were the game changers. This is one of my childhood classics.

The graphics are perfect. The mountain weather and environment effects are outstanding and so beautiful to look at. This got an oscar nomination for special visual effects in interactive entertainment as a result. The soundtrack is one of the greatest licensed soundtracks of all time aside from GTA: Vice City which came out a year before. I love the soundtrack. I get so many childhood flashbacks from playing the game and the soundtrack. It means so much to me.

The gameplay is what made the game so beloved by many gamers as it was so ahead of its time and still holds up to this day. So much exploration for collectibles and doing BIG challenges on the 3 peaks whenever you wanted. You could buy a lot of stuff in the shop like posters, videos, toys, attire, cards, special tricks, buy and unlock the classic characters from the previous games and upgrade yourself to become SSX champion. It led to so much time being wasted on this game everyday of my life when I was growing up.

No frame rate drop or clipping anywhere in the game. The controls were tight and responsive. The moves looked awesome and they were cool to pull off.

The opening is perfect. It gives you a taste of what's to come when you play. I LOVE the narration to this day. It sucks you in and it makes you want to recite it every time you start up your Xbox.

A 10 out of 10. It's unquestionable. The best sports game ever. it deserves the recognition it gets.

Waayyyy too unrealistic to be worth any of your time. Sure the graphics are cool and the game is "smooth", but if you know a single thing Waayyyy too unrealistic to be worth any of your time.
