  1. Play Magazine
If hardcore stealth is your game, satisfaction is guaranteed. [June 2005, p.57]
  2. You can't play and enjoy Stolen like it's another action game off the shelf at all, and that's going to understandably rankle some traditionalists.
  3. Game Informer
The levels and missions are equally unremarkable, which makes for yet another promising stealth title that doesn't live up to its potential. [June 2005, p.127]
  4. Although it is relatively entertaining to play the game falls flat mostly because of a few key aspects: enemy AI, and the sheer linearity of the level design and gameplay.
  5. Stolen could've been a good game, but the inept AI and poor controls make this game more of a chore than a fun experience.
  6. It's a Zen-like stealth game busted by wibbly AI, making it an ambitious take on the genre, but one that's too flawed to fulfil its sizeable promise. [Xbox World]
  7. Despite having a great premise for a stealth action game, we were disappointed by the finished product.
  8. It isn't an awful, broken, unplayable mess or anything; it's just not a particularly outstanding game in any regard. Competent and generic spring to mind as soon as you start playing, but it borrows enough of the right elements to make it playable.
  9. 52
It clearly copies other existing games and does so in a rather sloppy way.
  10. Edge Magazine
Sadly, encounters with enemy AI - particularly in combat - are by far the weakest link in an otherwise enjoyable effort. [Apr 2005, p.98]
  11. An undeveloped plot, derivative gameplay, idiotic enemies, and boring presentation.
  12. More bungling thief than Entrapment-esque vixen, this is a criminal excuse for a stealth 'em up. [Official UK Xbox Magazine]
  13. Below average and somewhat unpolished when compared to other games in the genre.
  14. Anemically lackluster gameplay and hideously sparse graphics do this game absolutely no service.
  15. The stealth gameplay has been done better countless times, and the combat is just plain bad.
  16. If there is one place where Stolen has the edge over Splinter Cell it's probably the minor gameplay mechanics like lock picking and computer hacking.
  17. 40
It's a game populated by animatronic mannequins, its plot driven by flat, unsympathetic characters. Worse, the dumb AI destroys any sense of danger, so the tension that runs through great stealth games never materializes.
  18. 40
It's just so generic, despite its few twists, and its B-grade action movie cinematics and plot are absolutely the stuff of dozens of other also-ran action games of the current generation.
  19. The game's shortcomings seal its fate and leave it miles behind the likes of Sam Fisher and Solid Snake, whose latest endeavors are far more worth your investment.
  20. Official Xbox Magazine
Mostly, it's recipe for frustration. [July 2005, p.85]
  21. games(TM)
A grubby looking, badly conceived and hastily programmed game that does nothing for the genre except add unnecessary limitations. [Apr 2005, p.110]
