  1. A respectable console version of a very good PC game.
  2. It may not be as deep as the PC version but compared to most console games, this one is a bottomless pit.
  3. It's the same old Sims, and yet so utterly different. Draw the blinds and say goodbye to your friends - real life doesn't get any better than this! [Official UK Xbox Magazine]
  4. A fun diversion for longtime fans of the series. It offers the same addictive gameplay as the PC version.
  5. Still, The Sims 2 has made a much smoother transition to the console than the previous versions. The new control scheme helps in this, with the direct control offering a nice option in place of the keyboard and mouse.
  6. While many adherents of The Sims franchise will lament changes to the Story mode, The Sims 2 for the console market is a seriously strong entry in the series. It simply doesn't get better than this when it comes to playing god from a La-Z-boy.

While it doesn't have the depth or complexity of the PC version, The Sims 2 brings a unique and engaging game experience to the Xbox.
  8. Game Informer
Even with these new elements, the game isn't as dynamic or addictive as others in the series, but it does manage to find some identity amid its more familiar feature that Sims fans will certainly appreciate. [Nov 2005, p.150]
  9. 85
This game works well on the Xbox due to the simplified controls and is a major improvement on the past 2 console versions.

If playing the divine hand to a house full of simulated people appeals to you, this is as good as it gets.
  11. The Sims 2 is, by far, the best console version of a PC great.
  12. 85
It's a fun, funny and truly engrossing entry in the series.
  13. Official Xbox Magazine
Food creation adds a new dimension to gameplay. [Holiday 2005, p.80]
  14. A fun little game. It does a great job of keeping everything that made The Sims so interesting on the PC. However, the game isn't as well suited for consoles as previous Sims games were. The removal of a real story mode is certainly a detriment. The actual gameplay is top-notch as always, though.
  15. The new control feature and somewhat simplified gameplay is geared towards the mainstream console gamer that may not have played The Sims for PC. The console-exclusive additions, on the other hand, allow for a fresh gameplay experience for those who may have gotten bored with the PC version of the game.
  16. Plenty of depth and variety in the gameplay thanks in part to the varied control schemes and advent of the new relationship functionality. The new cooking features are a fun addition as well.
  17. Represents a solid game that provides near limitless gameplay for those that take the time to enjoy it and offers great value for money if you're a Sims fan.
