Unlike last year's game, Tiger 2004's minor additions make more of a major difference than it would seem at first glance. [Oct 2003, p.124]
Even if EA Sports had left every other aspect of the game identical to "Tiger Woods 2003," the staggering number of new, playable courses alone makes 2004 worthwhile.
The licensed rap music has got to go for "Tiger Woods PGA Tour 2005," please! Other than this licensing snafu by EA’s music department the 2004 edition of the prettiest, fun, complete (online play rules!) and user-friendly golf sim on the face of the planet is well worth the $50.
EA needs to be commended for turning videogame golf into it's own sport, completely separate from the real thing...If you want the most advanced golf game available you'll want this one.
From the moment DMX's "Party Up" plays in the background, you'll realize this is not your father's golf game. The action is fast, the commentary is rife with dry humor, and the desire to personalize your character is too good to pass up.
Imitating a swing with the analogue stick is still as satisfying as ever, and the balance between control and room for error is nigh-on perfect. However, it would have been nice to see a few more changes to keep the experience fresh. [Oct 2003, p.122]
