  • Summary: This latest chapter marks the return to the franchise's roots by reintroducing the deeply strategic and tactical gameplay synonymous with the Rainbow Six name, while incorporating classic in-game elements such as vintage maps and weapons, all rebuilt using today's technology. Rainbow Six Critical Hour's storyline bids on nostalgia as John Clark retires and passes the torch to Ding Chavez. Chosen by fans, eight single-player missions from the original Rainbow Six and Rogue Spear games return, revamped with today's technology. Return to tactical gameplay: Through slower pacing and an enhanced combat model, strategic planning is the central element of gameplay. Advanced combat model: Choose your steps wisely as your actions could mean the difference between life and death. Weapon accuracy is affected by in-game maneuvers and events such as running, crouching, standing still or firing while injured. Rainbow Six Critical Hour comes equipped with a superior multiplayer experience, including the revolutionary Persistent Elite Creation (P.E.C.) mode, as well as the new and innovative Assassin and Free-for-All modes. Close-quarter battles: Maps in narrow corridors with non-linear level design challenge even the most tactical of gamers, increasing the importance of the infamous one-shot kill. From Idaho to Venice, Mexico City to Siberia, team Rainbow travels the world to serve and protect the innocent from terrorist threats. Expand

  1. Critical Hour just isn't going to get much playtime from me anymore. It's fine to rent for a weekend, but you're doing yourself better by getting an Xbox 360 and playing "Ghost Recon Advanced Warfighter" in wait for "Rainbow Six: Vegas."
  2. The emphasis was put back on "one shot kills", but it is still too easy to run-and-gun with this level of enemy intelligence. Commanding squad mates is cool, but this just doesn't feel like the Rainbow Six we once knew.
  3. It's bound to happen sooner or later. Critical Hour serves up an uninspired gameplay and dull visuals, which had all the signs of a rushed title.
  4. It's a rush job, a disservice to the franchise, and its just not a very good game.

For lovers of the first R6 games, this latest is for YOU! I'm no good at this reviewing thing, but I CAN simply tell you that this game feels much more like Rogue Spear or Raven Shield than it does the newer Lockdown. I have enjoyed all of the games in the series so far, but this one is one of the best! Expand

Lockdown was a great dissaopointment to many R6 fans, but this time Ubisoft gets it right and puts this stellar series back on track. I hear that the next R6 game will be closer to this one than to Lockdown and that's all I need to hear. I'll get it without hesitation. This one shreds! Collapse

Snarl! Oh yes, this game makes me feel MEAN! It's so awesome I just can't tell you! Very much a return to roots, this chapter kicks much ass. One of the very best of the series, this one brings back the use of tactics and has the feel of the old games with the look of the modern game. Rainbow Six, I salute you! Expand

This game is worth a renta no morel, it's the same thing as lockdown, only this time your background has gone red..d'ah!. Graphics are simply bad, cheap. AI still dumb, always the same outfit, and what is going on with the clancy series? it's all a big let down...just a way to sucker in more cash. We need to stop encouraging bad games. Expand
