  1. It is, at heart, one of the best unconventional brawling titles out there. UFC fans, though, will be disappointed by the fact that the game hardly ever “beefs” up the televised-style presentation to make the fights seem as memorable as they are in real life.
  2. The biggest complaint about Tapout 2 is that it doesn't really capture the wild differences in fighting styles that make the UFC what it is. As is, it's the best non-traditional fighting game on Xbox by a mile. [May 2003, p.76]

The most impressive feature in Tapout 2 is the redesigned visuals. Dream Factory chose to completely redo the graphics to make them look more life-like and as authentic as the real deal.
  4. It was definitely more fun playing with a rowdy group of guys and the matches seemed to last longer the more we drank.
  5. 71
While the fighting engine is still solid and the game remains fun, its total lack of significant improvements may kill any need to purchase the sequel.
  6. 71
While it's a serviceable MMA game, the UFC series has been dusted by "Pride FC" for PS2.
  7. While the game has a nice look to it and plays just fine, it doesn't really stray too far from the series' original design, and as such it feels like the same thing we've been playing for three years.
  8. No ambition equals low score. That's just the way it goes. [May 2003, p.90]
  9. It is truly unfortunate to see that this game, a graphical masterpiece with great Xbox sound features, is so heavily weighed down by lack of options and unique modes.
  10. The fighters here look great in a shiny Ken doll sort of way, but the gameplay and general presentation are merely passable. [May 2003, p.134]
  11. Personally if you want a solid UFC fighting game, buy the first one since it’s cheaper and overall a better game.
  12. Ultimately, the game's strict adherence to realism trips it up. [June-July 2003, p.95]
  13. 50
For those who aren't impressed by flashy graphics, Tapout 2 doesn't present as much innovation as other recently released fighting games on other platforms. [May 2003, p.52]
  14. 40
The fighters look great... until they move, anyway. But they've looked pretty good for years now and the lack of innovation combined with the gimme-some-Viagra blahness is disheartening to say the least.

The fighting is way too simple. And they didn't include hardly any of my favorite ufc fighters.

This is as real as UFC gets. Awesome and addictive game. A real sleeper hit.
