  1. It pulls off the arcade feel with half the calories, good for a rent for the casual gamer. Great for those with little time to dump into a title.
  2. Sure, it's not the best or most original thing, but Winback 2 offers solid shooting action in spades, with some really interesting ideas of how to handle the already crowded third person shooting genre.
  3. Luckily for us gamers Winback 2's strong point is also the most important: gameplay. The team dynamic changes things up from other third-person offerings, and the advent of the report card and timed missions – while they do take some getting used to – help to set goals for players to strive.

  5. Had WinBack 2 been released in 2002/2003, it would have been far better received but as a full-priced game released in 2006 it has to be held to the same standards as other top notch software and it falls short.
  6. The presentation of Project Poseidon also leaves much to be desired, with awkward and simplistic texturing, not to mention some downright asinine vocals.

    The generic levels, poor audio, and sometimes downright confusing level objectives and bizarre CRT system become a little worse for wear.
  8. For better or worse, there is a certain draw to this game, and I occasionally enjoyed myself, when I wasn't getting headaches from all the crate-ducking, getting killed again due to the excessively long reload animation, or exposing myself to enemy fire after a successful kill.
  9. Winback 2: Project Poseidon seems like a game that started off with grand third-person shooter aspirations and then made a wrong turn and fell from the ranks of potentially good to merely average, at best. The storyline is predictable, and the missions bear a sameness after a bit.

    For those who fondly remember the original, Project Poseidon will be like washing your mouth with acid should you decide to play it. The game fails to generate any interesting gameplay with its shallow team dynamic and adds little else to keep players interested.

    Just skip the whole thing. It has a few fun moments, but for the most part Winback 2 is an utterly unremarkable game, except perhaps in that despite all the gunplay, it's completely bloodless.
  14. Project Poseidon is quite the stinker. Low presentation values combined with a gameplay theme that was unique in the mid 90s only harbors repetitive moves and boredom.

    Two years later, this doesn't look any better than Cavia's earlier efforts -- its visuals are marred by aliasing that's unforgivable at this stage, and the animation blending is so primitive that you can't even reload while moving -- while its design doesn't try very hard at much of anything.

    There's a strange sense of... Well, it isn't fun exactly, but it's a slightly addictive charm that forces you to reassemble your controller and try that damn stage one more time... until you fail again due to circumstances beyond your control, and the rage returns.
