Nintendojo
Deep in both gameplay and play modes, it’s a solid feeling game in that the gameplay is tight, the presentation is super polished and the game has Madden-esque depth.

One of the best playing baseball games I’ve played in recent memory... This game is for purists.

It's hard to imagine a more enjoyable baseball experience. [May 2003, p.138]

In terms of the batting cursor interface, the GameCube version offers the tightest joystick control in the batter’s box with the Xbox version being a little too stiff and the PS2 version a little too loose.

If you already have All-Star Baseball 2003, 2004 probably doesn't have enough additions to make it a worthwhile purchase.

The baseball engine isn't strong enough for Acclaim Austin to get away with a few extremely cool cosmetic upgrades wrapped around the same sub-par baseball game.

It's authenticity is its biggest selling point, but a difficult batting interface and loose fielding controls keep it from becoming a legend.

One big disappointment is that the roster download option that was included in the Xbox and PS2 versions didn't make the final cut here.

Does all the basics well and with the extra features and historical aspects, it’s worth playtime for the hardcore baseball fan.

Acclaim made a lot of improvements and did a great job at capturing some of the spirit of baseball, but the actual on-field experience seems a little off. [Apr 2003, p.64]

ASB 2004 was made for baseball fans that run four or five fantasy baseball teams simultaneously, look deep into stats, and check the box scores from the Cactus League during the spring.

None of the other games come close to this one in terms of gee-whiz frills and bonus content. But ASB 2004 doesn't really get the job done on the field.

Mike gave it a 7:
The gameplay is great and there are several playing modes that are a lot of fun (series, pick-up game, expansion team, franchise, etc.) but the broadcasters often say stuff that is not relevant to the game (i.e. "the infielder had to dive there" on a fly ball to the outfield) and it is impossible to update the rosters because only players with the exact same position can be traded.

Guy la duche gave it a 10:
This game is 100 times better than 2003 because it is much easier to play and all the modes are awesome. Oh one other thing... mxc is the best show on earth.

El Toothy gave it a 10:
I LOVE THIS GAME!
