Game Chronicles
The opening movies hooks you and the training missions make the game seem innocent enough. Once you start playing however, the true nature of just how difficult this game really is become quickly apparent. This is not a game to be approached by the casual action gamer.

Although it could have been improved even further the graphics and vaguely cumbersome feel of the movement still need more refinement as a tactical squad based shooter, this is easily the GameCubes best.

It takes elements from many great shooters and has bundled them into a real life based situation.

A surprisingly fun, intelligent little squad-based shooter that's made all the better on GameCube.

It's not like being there, but Desert Storm offers us a glimpse into what modern warfare is like.
GameSpy
The promise of well-implemented squad tactics is completely undercut by terrible control and routine missions.

If you want a good wartime shooter, "Medal of Honor: Frontline" is far superior to Desert Storm. Look at that - I just saved you $40. [May 2003, p.87]
Nintendo Power
Frustrating play control and awkward camera movement weaken the game. [June 2003, p.138]
GMR Magazine
Players will find themselves replaying missions again and again because, as in real war, life is cheap and death is all too common. [June 2003, p.75]
Village Voice
You can switch between any soldier in the four-person British SAS or American Delta Force units, firing all manner of weapons at surprisingly well-coordinated Iraqi forces (not civilians), blowing up bridges (not mosques), and rescuing P.O.W.'s (not Jessica Lynch).

If you played "SOCOM" for the chat, however, then you'll probably abandon this game early on.

After Red Storm beauties like "Raven Shield" and "Splinter Cell," and even more recent efforts like "Vietcong", Conflict: Desert Storm on the GameCube is a pretty embarrassing release.

The U.S. Delta Force puts up such a piss-poor fight in this game, playing through it might actually boost the Republican Guard's morale. [June 2003, p.130]
NintendoWorldReport
While its not terrible, it approaches a level of bland mediocrity that is all too typical of todays mass market gaming industry.

The interface and poor control are bigger enemies than the game's Iraqi soldiers ever are, and in the end, this is a game you can surely live without.

If this was simply a run-and-gun action game, Conflict: DS wouldn't survive its mediocre moments, but the presence of units of up to four who require steady management carry the game. [June 2003, p.57]
Armchair Empire
Youll have to be extremely familiar with the controls to have a hope in hell of finishing the game.

Lacking in virtually every area. The graphics are terrible, the controls are clunky, and the gameplay is uninspired.

Best war game out.
Kenny H. gave it a 0:
I found absolutely nothing good about this game. It was shockingly hard and crappy. After I was dissapointed by the single player mode, my brother and i tried 2 player co-op. WOW. That also sucked. So, never play this game if you are alive.
Chris M. gave it a 9:
This is a gr8 game. the co-op mode is excellent it it sure does give u value for money, ok the graphics aren't the best but still it has to be bought.
Gamer Boy gave it a 10:
This is my favorite game. From the beginning to the end it was non-stop fun. I could not keep my hands of the controller. It was so tactical and it was a strategy based game. My friends and I played multiplayer and beat it. This game is nonstop fun. This game is one of the best real war time games of its kind. Loved it.
Gametime gave it a 10:
This game is one of the best games ever that i played for game cube. Me and my friends always play multiplayer i love having 4 people to control. Each character you control has their own weapons and features. The controls are a little tricky but overal a superb game. Conflict: Desert Storm is a strategy and shooter game. This was immediately added to my wishlist.
Shaun D. gave it a 4:
I don't know what the other guys are smoking -- this game is completely terrible. Everything about this game is flawed. I rented this game because the graphics on the box looked all right. When I got home, I had to excuse myself in front of my siblings for suggesting such a crappy game, and within four minutes of playing I decided to use my weeks rental of this game as a good use -- a door stop.
Bill O. gave it a 10:
Rented it and loved it, now we have to buy it. My roommates and I are hooked!
