Summary
(Currently available in Japan only) The second sequel to the GBA launch title, "Kuru Kuru Kururin," Kururin Squash! finally brings the wacky franchise to GameCube. Move a rotating rod through a maze-like playfield, trying to get to a goal. Hit too many objects, including walls and other obstacles, and the rod blows up, placing you back at the level's starting point. For this iteration, the game also has hot multiplayer action, bizarre Heririn copters with boxing gloves and paddles.

I would have been fine with just a GameCube version of the previous Kururin games, but Eighting includes new copters to pilot, along with fiendish puzzles to go with them. Not to mention devious Boss Battles as well!... There's a good chance that if you like your action games with a bit of thinking, this could be the game you're looking for. [JPN Import]

Kururin Squash is a prime example of Nintendos people-dont-need-better-hardware-but-better-games philosophy. The title is all about the gameplay, and it delivers big time. [JPN Import]

A charming little game. It's reminiscent of Tetris in that it's very pick-up-and-play, very addictive, and has a style all of it's own. It'll have you fuming in some places, but you know that you'll keep trying until you get further. [JPN Import]

It's an evening of all the beautiful, quirkily executed ideas from which are modern story-driven third-person action-blockbuster wotsits were originally derived, calling for speedy reactions and a touch of lateral thinking, and you will have fun. Just not enough of it. In other words, it'll captivate you for as long as it lasts. [JPN Import]

Squash could easily have been the all-singing, all-dancing triumph of the series, bringing the voluminous gameplay of the former iterations and wrapping it in a polygonal pastel candy-coat, but ends up little more than a value-priced tasty snack thatll leave you wanting more. [Christmas 2004, p.95]

If anything, the youthful exuberance of the game probably matches the intended target audience: essentially Kururin Squash must have been made for children, as there doesn't appear to be any subtle Nintendo masterpiece here, just a charming, easily accessible, vibrant and well put-together puzzle/action game.

Kururin Squash! isn’t nearly as challenging as its GBA predecessor and no amount of traditional Time Trial, Special or GBA mini-game modes can hide its brevity. The game might be as addictive as ever, but that only means you’ll see the end of it even sooner. [Jan 2005, p.116]
