We never would have thought that adding some multiplayer functions to a 23-year-old arcade game would result in one of the most fun and addictive games out there, but Pac-Man Vs. is just that.

The game is complete with commentary from another classic character - Mario! [Feb 2004, p.148]

Easily one of the finest examples of what GBA to GCN connectivity can do not only is the gaming experience incredibly unique, but the action within the game is fun and exciting.

One of the most unique experiences you can get in a home console today.

If youre looking for some truly entertaining multiplayer action that takes advantage of the GBAs and GameCubes connectivity features then you should certainly give Pac-Man Vs a look-see.

Even better than I expected, and I expected an addicting multiplayer game that everyone I introduced it to would enjoy. The controls and idea of the game are so simple that anyone can hop in and get into the groove within a couple rounds.

Easily one of the most interesting, if not most fun, multiplayer games to grace the GameCubes purple presence.

A great party game especially when three of your friends are over to play games. While it is more fun with four players, you need just a minimum of two players. The biggest drawback to the game is the fact that you need a GameCube, a GameBoy Advance, and GBA-GC link cable.

More funny than any free game has a right to be, but it's free for a reason. There's basically just one play mode and you need four people to make it worthwhile. If only you didn't have to suffer R: Racing to get it.

It may not be as great as Xbox Live or PS2's online system, but this game is a heck of a lot of fun if you have some friends and one GBA with the connector.

The thrill of the chase rarely gets more intense than when you're yelling Pac-Man's whereabouts to your two ghostly partners.

The game is so clever and fun to play it's worth every penny however you obtain it.

With so much replay value in the multiplayer and a solid single-player experience to be had [in Pac-Man World 2], don't be surprised if you come down with a case of Pac-Man fever all over again.

A great realization of Nintendo's much-vaunted connectivity strategy.

What a surprise, a Miyamoto-supervised game guarantees fun. Go figure.

A lot of fun to have in groups, and even friends that dont play a lot of games will catch on quick and enjoy themselves. If you have a GameCube, a GBA, and a few friends, its a must-have for parties.

It is also a lot more accessible than other multiplayer titles such "Crystal Chronicles" and "Four Swords" because only one GBA is required.

So basic that you'd think it couldn't possibly be this much fun. A tremendous multiplayer game, but be warned - that's all it is. [NGC]

It's a great little free game and a good excuse to try out the GBA link. [Feb 2004, p.47]
Into Liquid Sky
A ridiculously addictive multiplayer experience that serves as a great party or group-oriented distraction.

For all you old codgers (Paul) longing for yesteryear when gameplay was king and multiplayer was where it was at, Pac-Man Vs. is about as pure and stripped down a gaming experience you can get.

Doesn't match the frantic pace of a good first-person shooter or the complexity of a turn-based strategy game. Instead, its a clever reinvention of something old into a multiplayer experience.

Every round is quick and frantic and offers lots of opportunities for sudden turn-arounds. The more humans you can get hooked up to it at once, the better it is.

Pac-Man Vs could hardly have barer bones. No options, no game modes and no high-score tables are included here, and as a consequence there's nothing here to dilute the strength of the original idea or the subtle excellence of its execution. [Feb 2004, p.103]

Long-term appeal is dependent on having a suitably committed group of friends to play with. You'll need at least three players for a satisfying game, and four is much better.

The 3D graphics on the Cube are great but the limited vision is a bit annoying. Graphically and sound-wise, Pac-Man Vs is no Halo but it captures the original game perfectly.
Eurogamer
It's a stunning little game to play for a while after the pub or while waiting for a taxi to turn up, and a complete contrast to the involved multiplayer experience you'd get with FF:CC. If a copy lands on your lap, you'll probably love it - you just wouldn't pay thirty quid for it.

There isn't enough variety to keep players enthralled - it's essentially the same game over and over. But what is there works beautifully and is a great example of a game thats accessible to anybody without sacrificing fun for all.

Simply put, it's just not that fun. [Jan 2004, p.141]
