The angles are fabulous -- never staying in one place too long while framing the action with cinematic flair. [Nov 2003, p.91]

A straight hack and slash action title. Nothing more, nothing less...Quite simply, I love this game.

A decent game. The graphics, sound and gameplay are all entertaining enough to keep most gamers happy. The challenge isnt exactly that of Everest, but it is definitely worth one run through.

The only saving grace this game has is for Ninja Turtles fans, but during a time when there are so many better games released you're not getting the same bang for your buck.

You know what's really weak, though? There are four Turtlesand they're a team, right? But only two heads can play this game simultaneously. I'm sorry, but I can't explain the logic behind that.

TMNT doesn't wear its nostalgic aspects particularly well, and the remaining components simply don't make for a very entertaining experience.

While I'm as old school as anyone else, in the day of "Viewtiful Joe" and "Prince of Persia," monotonous one-after-another gameplay just doesnt hold the same appeal as it once was.

I find it sharp, fast, and stylish, which is just what this kind of game needs to be. Just keep the volume lowthese Turtles be talking too damn much.

In short, this is a completely standard beat 'em up with nothing innovative, nothing that stands out, and a number of features that have been less than ideally copied from other games. Beyond that, it's a decent title.

To be honest, the game is really quite enjoyable, but four-player Gauntlet-style fighting action would have been superb.

While battling through hoards of baddies as the mean green fighting machines is fairly entertaining, especially in co-op mode with a friend, there just isnt enough to here to make it worth anything more than a possible rent.

Decent, but it comes up short of ideal in just about every conceivable area.

A gigantic disappointment. The gameplay is boring, the graphics are boring, and everything else is just plain boring. Even the multiplayer, when it WAS playable without all the debilitating slow-downs, was boring.

It's a typical boring and repetitive brawler. You die cheaply, are forced to repeatedly play through unimaginative stages, and don't have a whole lot of fun in the process. In fact, playing through any part of the game is painful.

Colorful graphics and sharp control make the game fun to watch and play, but the old-school punch-and-kick action gets monotonous. [Dec 2003, p.146]
GameCube Europe
Rarely have I seen such uninspired awkward gameplay for a GameCube game, well nurtured visuals yes, but the game has not one interesting or surprising moment.

The action is a little too samey, and things become just too repetitive. Aside from scenery variations, FMV cut-scenes and the odd boss fight, the game is practically the same from start to finish. [Jan 2004, p.125]
Ferrago
It is not that the game doesn't have its fun moments, because it can be that, it is just that they are very short-lived and don't really go any further than the first level. Disappointing.

There's little joy to the gameplay, unless you like hammering one of the two attack buttons and simply aiming your hero at the next batch of fodder for your angry reptilian idiot.

Its sad to think that with all its high-tech fanciness of the new console generation, TMNT cant even muster up the personality and gameplay of the old arcade games.
The new game is a little bland, and just doesnt really excite the same way that the old ones do. Its the worst game under the Ninja Turtle franchise, and is worth a rental at most.

Feels cheeky to be criticising a scrolling beat 'em up for being too shallow, but TMNT is possibly one of the most tedious ever. Repetition is only acceptable when you're repeating something gratifying. [Jan 2004, p.109]
Total Video Games
A hugely disappointing update to a franchise that was once reverred in the videogames industry - why is there no 4P option?

While the basic gameplay engine is solid enough, TMNT forgets that less is sometimes more, and does a fine job of boring the player as a result.

Eduardo R. gave it a6:
If you are a great fan of the series, buy it. If you used to love all the NES and SNES TMNT games, you might like it. If you are looking for an exciting adventure game, ignore it!
Chris gave it a 10:
This game really makes me remember the good old days when TMNT were king. An instant classic.
Kenny H. gave it a 4:
Complete disappointment. I was obsessed with Turtles in time on SNES. But this game is simply......crap. Really sad.
Matt S. gave it a 7:
Listen Kiddes, I was a fan of TMNT back in the early 90's and we would of died to have a game this good. But it could have been better with use of better technology.
Latrell A. gave it a 10:
Completely Awesome...
Jeff J. gave it a 7:
This game is made for fun, like games should be! Thank you Konami, and thank you Ninja Turtles!
