Summary
TigerProofing is a revolutionary course-altering system that allows players to modify course dynamics and create the most intensely competitive course imaginable. Alter tee-box length, width and patterns on fairways and greens, the depth of a greenside bunker, and even the color of the leaves on the trees, course moisture and the season which you play. Take on the legends of golf including Arnold Palmer, Jack Nicklaus, and Ben Hogan and become a legend yourself! EA SPORTS GameFace II: The industry-leading GameFace technology just got a whole lot deeper with more control and freedom to express your creative vision from a youthful prodigy to a grizzled old veteran. Eight new licensed courses and two new fantasy courses have been added for a total of 14 courses. New licensed courses for console only include Coeur dAlene and Colonial Country Club. New licensed courses for both console and PC include, Sherwood Country Club, Fancourt Golf Club Estate and Troon North Monument Course. Compete as or against 15 different PGA TOUR players including Tiger Woods, John Daly, Vijay Singh, Charles Howell III, Notah Begay III, and Jesper Parnevik, among others. Total Precision Swing: New putting and chipping systems allow for more control on the green or when you leave an approach shot short. In PGA TOUR Season Mode, play along with the 52-week PGA TOUR calendar of events for up to 10 seasons. Obtain sponsorships from real golf equipment manufacturers throughout your career and drive to surpass Tiger as number one on the overall money list. [EA Sports]

Play Magazine
Together with a deep career mode, eight new courses (14 total) and, of course, online gameplay, this latest Tiger Woods is as good as it gets. [Oct 2004, p.88]

I am a changed man after playing this game and I think anybody who hasn't bothered to play golf games before should really give this a try; you'll be surprised, I promise.

An addictively fun game of golf that is certain to appeal to new and old fans alike. It doesnt raise the bar in terms of gameplay but with all its game modes and new features, youll have a hard time finding a golf simulator that matches up to PGA Tour 2005.

Even though the overall look and presentation has not received a glowing amount of attention, it is what EA has done as far as tweaking the controls, A.I. and adding a monster amount of modes and options that will keep fans of the links playing for another year to come.

How exactly did they manage to make Tiger Woods PGA Tour 2005 a better game? By making it more varied, and thus, more replayable. By far, the biggest upgrade to the game is the new GameFace II system, which allows you to create a player who looks like just about anyone you could possibly imagine.

Tiger Woods 2005 is a birdie to "2004's" eagle, but that doesn't change the fact that it's one of the best sports games out there.

This is one of GameCube's best games this year, so don't overlook it, despite its lack of online.

A great game of golf with enough depth to please simulation fans while making things accessible to newcomers to the series.

This year it's so big, most players with full-time jobs and social lives will never see more than half of it. You almost need a map to find your way through the menu options. [NGC]

The foliage resembles that found in a pop-up book, the mingames are growing old, and though "2004" revolutionized the game, 2005 is mostly spit and polish. [Nov 2004, p.138]
Game Over Online
While it doesn't break any seriously new ground, Tiger Woods PGA Tour 2005 is still the best golf title around.

After last year's revolutionary success, this game - like "Madden" - is slowing down with age. [Oct 2004, p.125]
GameSpot
The game seems dead set on making new players comfortable--but this inadvertently sucks out a lot of the challenge.

The Game Face II interface allows you to sculpt your duffer to minute detail. [Dec 2004, p.146]
Game Revolution
The new features are generally welcomed but dont change the fact that this is largely the same game you probably spent way too much time with last year.

Its debatable whether or not this is worth buying if you own last years game it comes down to how rich you are and how much you like golf. [Nov 2004, p.118]
G4 TV
Though its easy to knock the game for not radically altering its presentation, its hard to criticize the sheer amount of playability (and fun) offered here.

If, however, you already own one of the previous versions, then the reasons to consider an upgrade are negligible.
