In TimeSplitters Future Perfect, victory is in the hands of the player's past, present, and future self in a battle that stretches throughout time where humanity is on the brink of destruction from the malevolent TimeSplitters. Cortez--the tough-as-nails hero from previous installments--finds himself in a frantic race against time in a desperate bid to trace the origin of the TimeSplitters and save mankind. This third installment of the best-selling franchise will feature hundreds of hours of gameplay and an improved Story mode that ties all the missions together, immersing gamers in an epic adventure between the years of 1914 and 2401. Innovative "meet yourself" time travel gameplay lets players be their own ally by teaming up with past and future versions of themselves. The game also will allow two players to fight through the Story in Co-op mode, and features extensive Challenge and Arcade modes, and a Multiplayer mode that allows gamers to battle in 16-player death match online on the PlayStation(R)2 computer entertainment system. In addition, gamers will experience an improved Map Maker feature allowing them to easily create and play their own maps and share them online. TimeSplitters Future Perfect promises to be one of the deepest arcade shooters on the console with hundreds of unlockables, more realistic environments, spectacular special effects, high quality animated cut scenes, an improved physics engine, smarter enemy AI, and much more. Everything it promises to be: an old-school shooter with a zany, slightly raunchy style that you really won’t find anywhere else.

Every aspect of the game feels polished and ready to go, whether it's the single-player story, the online multiplayer, the numerous unlockables, or the custom mapmaker. This is one of those rare Jack-of-all-trades that has actually mastered them all.

Whether you are striving for higher ranks or want to dazzle people with a map that you created and uploaded, TimeSplitters' online presence is unprecedented and simply irresistible. [Apr 2005, p.114]

IGN
On the one hand, it’s a flat, uninspired single-player campaign, with vehicles and base-level NPC co-op play holding it up with shoes strings. While on the other hand, the multiplayer game is substantial, creative, and wildly fun.

A larger variety of weapons than that in "Timesplitters 2," as well as more levels, characters, and challenges make this game very impressive and a welcomed addition to the series.

What it does do is take the simple, tactile pleasure of solidly built FPS action and inject it into such a staggeringly wide variety of situations, contexts and scenarios that putting down the pad after a heavy blasting session is genuinely difficult.

What clever things Future Perfect does within its trek-across-the-time-continuum framework... It works in the only way it can: with a whole lot of humor. [April 2005, p.115]

It's certainly refreshing to have a game that's long and tough, but doesn't forget that carnage needs to be entertaining before it's inspiring.

What this game contains that is totally removed from everything else out there is a quirky, infectious, humorous character, one that seems to deeply reflect the personality of its makers. When you play it, you really sense a stamp of originality and zany flavor in its presentation and structure. [March 2005, p.48]

Almost exactly what we wanted it to be. Story mode and single-player antics are diverting enough but the game excels in multiplayer, offering fast-paced thrills that only the highlights of the "Unreal" series can really contest. [March 2005, p.122]

The mechanics are competent, but it is the characterisations, especially the wooden delivery of some lines, that let the game down. On the plus side, the ample options include a story mode, multiplayer clash modes and a mission designer to open up replay values.

Sometimes it feels like the game plays more like Bungie’s first-person shooter, "Halo," than "GoldenEye," however, which is somewhat of a surprise considering the last two TimeSplitters games followed very closely in "GoldenEye’s" footsteps.

Stray Dawg gave it a10:
Everyone moans about the story mode being too short... who cares? I've only went through story mode twice, yet the game is still a common player in my console, thanks to the sheer amount of multiplayer options: 150 characters, a huge range of weapons (you hear that halo, with ur 6 or 7 guns?) and many unique ways to play. and if that wasn't enough, theres always MAPMAKER! If story mode is too short for you, make your own stories.

Danny N. gave it an8:
Timesplitters adds so many features into the game, like deathmatch and a superb story mode. Mapmaker allows you to have alot of replay value, and it is very easy to use! It even beats Halo on most aspects! The best game for having nice split screen action with your friends. Over a doven weapons and maps, and coop for story mode! With over 100 characters to choose from, there is always something to do. A Solid Game that competes with today's shooters. GET THIS GAME!

Jack gave it a10:
Better than Halo, Killzone, and any other multiplayer game combined! no questions asked. besk game ever created by man!

Chris gave it a10:
Awesome game. No questions asked.

Alan C. gave it a10:
This game is the best multiplayer game ever created for the Cube. The crazy characters made the game hilarious yet the gameplay was tense at times. The bots added to the game was a great idea and adds a lot more fun to team deathmatches and other multiplayer modes.

Matt R. gave it a10:
I thought this series has been lacking in a good story up until now. Story mode acually had a story this time, and a pretty good one, I thought. The multiplayer has endless possibilities, and I find myself playing it for hours on end. Even though both TS2 and Future Perfect are impossible to complete even 60% of, let alone 100%, they are loads of fun even after the 1000th time through.

Josh gave it a10:
This is the best timesplitters yet. Multiplayer rules. The game may seem short but with all the extra arcade challenges and league modes it is definitely worth it. As to "lack of visual bounce" or feeling like floating when your walking as Ian mentioned in his review, That is characteristic of timesplitters. It's that feeling that allows you to turn really fast and take out your opponent. Other games seem so slow but in timesplitters while it may take getting use to, It definitely enhances the experience for a seasoned veteran. And lack of online play is not a good enough reason for a bad review some people have real friends not just imaginary ones.
