(Also known as "Dr. Reiner Knizia's Brainbenders") Travel the world with the award-winning puzzle and board game designer Dr. Reiner Knizia as you visit iconic global cities in an attempt to solve ingenious conundrums. An expert in algorithmically generated logic problems and designer of over 300 board games, Dr. Reiner Knizia invites you to join him on the brilliant puzzle journey, Brain Voyage. Featuring 16 puzzle types each with five distinct varieties, specialist DS developer Razorback Developments has constructed a total of 80 mind-blowing puzzles ranging from easy to elaborately ambitious. Uncover the amazing secrets held within 16 exotic cities around the world as players track marine life off the coast of Cape Town, restore the ancient mosaics of Beijing, organize dancers at the Rio Carnival, memorize melodies at the Sydney Opera House, assemble the stone tablets of the Aztec ruins and more. Brain Voyage features a World Tour Mode plus three Random Play Modes allowing players to send games to their friends using the Nintendo Wi-Fi Connection and compete for the title of International Champion. While not all of the puzzles in Dr Reiner Knizia's Brainbenders will take your fancy, there's enough in here to ensure that at least some of it will appeal. The over-arching mechanic adds flavour to ingredients that are otherwise sometimes bland.

Overall, the game felt a little lacking for TLC, but if you're an avid puzzler and a DS owner, Brain Voyage is a solid bet.

For a "brain" game, Brain Voyage has the style and charm that many of its peers are lacking. However, the whole brain gimmick is just that; this is a basic puzzle game collection through and through.

Short-lived fun that will only appeal to the most devout enthusiasts. [May 2008, p.84]

It is one of the more disappointing brain games I have engaged in; nothing too difficult here and unless you absolutely must play every puzzler out there, I would take a pass.

You might get a few hours of enjoyment out of it, but at best, this Voyage is best saved for a short weekend; it's not one you'll want to take too many times.

Never trust a board game designer to do a math's professors job. This is too lightweight to be of note. [May 2008, p.72]

IGN
Half of these puzzles are better in board game format, which makes sense since it's designed by a board game expert. The puzzles aren’t bad, but they certainly aren’t original and their fun is very short lived.

Everything Brain Voyage does has been done better by other logic and puzzle minigame collections.

Although Dr. Knizia has done a good job with his company inventing board games and such this was nothing more than a waste of time.

The Nintendo DS has other logic games in its repertoire that are more exciting, stimulating, and feel more like a complete package.

Brain Voyage is basically a collection of simple games that have little to do with logical reasoning or deep thought and analysis.
