GameZone
The new game is frustrating, repetitive, and not as memorable as the first.

60
Edge Magazine
Whether you view the appearance of a game like this on the DS as a crucial step in conserving gaming’s heritage, a convenient nostalgia fix, or a total reversal of everything the machine was supposed to deliver, you’ll most likely greet Bub and Bob with little more than familiar affection. [Feb 2006, p.92]

Nintendo Power
Nonetheless, nostalgic-minded gamers will get a kick out of Bubble Bobble Revolution. [Oct. 2006, p.91]

PGNx Media
Bubble Bobble Revolution is only recommended for those looking to play the original game.

42
My Gamer
The updated version is horribly unbalanced and way too difficult to be enjoyed.

40
Armchair Empire
Collectors of classic games could probably feel no remorse picking it up, but all others can safely give it a miss.

40
Gamers' Temple
The game does a just fine job of porting the original, but unless you already love the game you’re not going to be enamored with its rudimentary play and graphics.

37
Gaming Horizon
A train wreck.

36
GameSpot
One of the games included with Bubble Bobble Revolution is a genuine classic. The other is so plagued with glitches that it can't even be finished.

35
IGN
A very poor remake of a classic arcade game. The Level 30 bug definitely hurts the product, but in all honestly it just makes a bad game worse.

35
eToychest
This isn’t anywhere near as good as some of the Nintendo DS's other classic remakes, such as Namco's Dig Dug: Digging Strike, which was both fun, innovative, and actually worked properly out of box.

32
Worth Playing
Normally, a title like this would garner a much higher score; due to the inherent bugs, however, it feels like the game is half-finished. Since it seems only halfway complete, the score will also be roughly half of what it would be in normal circumstances.

30
Games Radar (in-house)
But if you're looking for a fresh new take on the old, bubble-blowing action you remember so fondly, Bubble Bobble Revolution just plain blows.

26
GamingTrend
Unfortunately, nostalgia rarely holds up, they couldn't even implement the new system's features and instead of taking something old and reinventing it they made a broken version of a classic game with graphics that have no character.

20
Digital Entertainment News
The game is so broken that it isn't worth purchasing. Do not support sloppy game making. Do not buy this game.

20
Modojo
A mother of a rush job, with no pure heart poured into the presentation, the gameplay, or even the testing process.

20
Eurogamer
The DS's wireless abilities means that it's able to offer two-player mode on a handheld, which would be tremendous, if it didn't require two copies of the game to play. A ridiculous rip-off for a game nearly two decades old.

20
DailyGame
Apparently, Codemasters' quality control team was on vacation when this was being developed.

16
GamingExcellence
There’s the broken remake of the title, in which you can’t even finish. There’s the classic which, while fun, doesn’t nearly justify the price tag, especially without download play. If you’re really looking to satisfy a Bubble Bobble craving, there are much better ways to do it.
