Summary
Cookie & Cream is an action/platformer where players navigate their way through challenging terrain on the top screen while solving puzzles and disarming traps on the touch screen below. Played as either a single-player game where one person controls both characters, or a cooperative game where one player maneuvers Cookie on the top screen while the other is in charge of Cream on the touch screen, Cookie & Cream is a unique combination of gaming genres. Single player game lets you use directional button and touch pen to control two characters at once. Cooperative game lets you and a friend work together to advance through levels. Wireless compatible for co-op play and WiFi compatible for four-player battles. Download play mode allows two to play select stages off one Game Card. Eight diversely themed worlds to traverse, including Desert World, Music World, Trick World and Water World. Nine challenging minigames to explore. [Agetec, Inc.]

If you're looking for a nice, simple time-killer, this is a good way to go. It gets even more fun when you have a friend join in. It's just a shame that there aren't more people to play against online.

Cookie & Cream is a terrific game that is only hindered by its appearance. The cute and fuzzy bunny motif will likely distance the game from most players at the local shop, but I assure you it makes you no less of a hardcore gamer to enjoy the finer delicacies from the Land of the Rising Sun.

Cookie and Cream on the Nintendo DS is what you'd get if you did a mash-up with Wario Ware and a platformer.

It's a perfect fit for the dual screens, and the simultaneous two-rabbit control works well:: each half on its own would be too simple, but playing them together is interesting. [Oct 2007, p.73]

Cookie and Cream is an enjoyable game that kids and adults will both get pleasure from. The game ends up feeling like Crash Bandicoot mixed with Mario, which is a good combination.

It uses the DS's unique control system in a way which we can only hope is emulated in other games.

Cookie & Cream simultaneously blends 3D exploration with 2D minigames in a refreshing way, but the level layouts are bland and repetitive.

The main single-player mode remains way too clunky for me to award this game high marks. That said, the great parts of this game are really something to experience.

It could have been better with an easier puzzle section for certain parts of the game, while it could have been worse without all of the great features. It’s hard to really knock the game because it tries so hard to do so much while stumbling to do it just right.

If you crave innovation and have the patience to deal with Cookie & Cream's shortcomings, the title offers a creative, charming, and mostly satisfying adventure. [July 2007, p.93]
GameDaily
Even with the multiplayer options and the touch-screen gameplay, it fails to provide much enjoyment. Fans of the original game and patient kids probably won't mind digging in. Everyone else, on the other hand, should pass this one by.

If you're going to compete with the likes of Mario and Sonic you need a smart plan. And if you have a smart plan you better make it work. Cookie & Cream is only half way there. [Dec 2007, p.87]
Hardcore Gamer Magazine
I can see the novel ideas going on here, but this game needs some serious extra time in the oven. Also, an analog stick. [Vol 3, Issue 2, p.63]

Nintendo's portable system is the popular girl in school these days, which makes Cookie & Cream an embarrassing photo from back in junior high. Back when she had acne, braces and Coke-bottle glasses and hung out with the kids who weren't cool enough to be on the chess team. Let's put those dark days behind us, shall we?

There’s some minigames and a wi-fi Battle mode, but good luck trying to play with a friend more than once. We wanted to adore Cookie & Cream; it’s a shame we only get a clumsy mess.
