Summary
Garfield came up with the crazy idea to combine breakfast, lunch and dinner to have more time for his other activities. He crammed a couple of pizzas, some lasagnes and two bags of jelly donuts into one big sandwich. It seems this may have been a little too much… As he slowly falling asleep and his nightmare begins...Garfield suddenly wakes up in a haunted castle – this is not the real world but a strange dream world populated by the monsters of Garfield's sub-conscious. Although Garfield loves sleeping, this horrible dream has to end as soon as possible! Unfortunately Garfield smashed his little alarm clock in the real world and now his only chance at waking up soon depends on his ability to find the shattered pieces and put them back together. Help him to wake him up from this frightful nightmare! Garfield's nightmare is a traditional 3D platform-puzzle game and utilizes the DS hardware graphic capacity. Players will get a chance to live one of the lives of their favorite feline in an astonishing, mind-blowing environment filled with ghosts, spiders, glaciers and fireballs. Each level will lead Garfield to engage in a final battle that will transform his nightmare into a dream. Bosses will need to be terminated during these timeless fights, gradually enhancing the difficulty level. [The Game Factory]

Nothing about it is spectacular but it’s such a fun little platformer that I enjoyed it anyway.

Garfield's Nightmare isn't for everyone, but the intended audience, those under the age of ten, will find themselves enjoying the adventures of our tubby orange hero.

What limited time you do have with Garfield is actually surprisingly entertaining, and though it doesn’t really use the source material very well, this is still a good 2D platformer that platforming fans should check out, whether they like Garfield or not.

Just as Garfield is not a very ambitious cat, the game does not try to reach far. But what it does do, it does well. [Oct 2007, p.89]
IGN
This is 3D done beautifully, and there’s solid gameplay here to back it up. Any kid or longtime Garfield fan will eat this game up like a plate of hot spaghetti.

Garfield passes muster, but only thanks to some really great levels and graphics, otherwise it's another example of should have been.

Overall, Garfield's Nightmare is a standard romp through a very average platformer and will do little to hold your amusement for the entire playthrough.

The graphics are pretty, though everything else feels incredibly ordinary, with the intentions solely being focused on tacking Garfield’s name onto a lifeless affair. The game is far too simple and offers very little to anyone who buys it – there are much better alternatives available.
