Game Almighty
Glory Days 2 took me completely by surprise. It's the perfect game that I didn't even know I needed. If you're looking for an action game with more depth than just moving and shooting, you should definitely take a look.

The developers of Glory Days 2 obviously subscribe to the axiom of leaving the audience wanting more. Job well done. I can hardly wait for "Glory Days 3."

Thus far the DS has been met with innovation from the adventure, simulation, puzzle, and mind-teaser genres, but this is the first action game that has made a serious impact on Nintendo’s handheld.

Though it doesn't need a particularly impressive presentation for the formula to work, Glory Days 2 surprises with silky-smooth, colorful visuals reminiscent of a shrunken, high-speed Metal Slug.

While there’s definitely a learning curve with respect to the controls and the fact you’re performing double duty as a pilot and army General, the combination of aerial combat and real-time military strategy is a rather enjoyable mix.

I can't help but feel a little disappointed for the lack of single cartridge and online multiplayer, but as is Glory Days 2 is polished pretty well. It's a unique game in the DS line-up that deserves checking out.

If you can approach GD2 on its own terms and conquer it, the utterly unique gameplay experience is simply, well, glorious.

If you want a portable game with a nice amount of action that also makes you think a bit, you would do well to try this game.

If you enjoy 2D gameplay, Glory Days 2 is certain to appeal. The mix of action and strategy is exceptional, and although the presentation certainly looks and feels 16-bit, the gameplay more than makes up for it.

If you're a fan of shoot 'em ups in the old sense of the phrase then you'll almost certainly become a fan of Glory Days 2.

An outstanding mix of action and strategy make Glory Days 2 one of those much-fabled hidden gems.

The game isn't perfect but those looking for a solid DS game with a lot of action and a hint of strategy should check out Glory Days 2.

The unique blend of action and strategy in Glory Days 2 will make you wish the campaign lasted a little longer.

A brave attempt at combining two very different types of gameplay. [Nov 2007, p.84]
Game Chronicles
Glory Days 2 is a game with its highs and lows, and certainly won’t appeal to everyone. However, for players who are willing to take the time to master the game’s otherwise complex controls and get used to the chaotic nature of the battles, there is still plenty of great looking, fantastic sounding fun to be had with this game.

Glory Days 2 can be enjoyable, primarily because it is a rather unique game. On the downside it feels like the game was designed for a larger screen and that it could use a little more unit and aircraft variety.

An intense mix of action and strategy, but not for all tastes. [Dec 2007, p.83]
GameDaily
We also dig the presentation, which includes an impressive soundtrack and convincing letters from the main characters as they struggle with the spoils and successes of warfare.

Glory Days 2 is a fun game, but it’s not great. Like a lot of older arcade titles, this one is fun to play, but you wouldn’t name it a masterpiece, or even a great game. With a few friends to play with it definitely goes up a notch.

With its lengthy Campaign, fully customizable Battle mode and insanely good multiplayer experience, Glory Days II offers value for money and deserves your attention. [June 2007, p.112]
Pocket Gamer UK
Providing both action-based and tactical gameplay, Glory Days 2: Brotherhood of Men brings a new, innovative experience to DS wargaming.
Read Full Review >Games Radar (in-house)
All in all, the scaled-down warfare is quick paced and fun, but it doesn't provide the level of strategy it purports to due to the convoluted nature of its layout.

Overall fans of the original will be satiated with another entry in the series, but this game just feels really dated.

Imagine the most intricate, feature-laden knockoff of the old arcade game "Choplifter", and you'll have an idea of what Glory Days 2 is about. [Aug 2007, p.89]
Eurogamer
Played on a big screen with the ability to take a much wider view of the battlefield, it would be much less stifled and tough to grasp, and the individually awkward or squirmy action bits would be more acceptable. But it isn't and they aren't, and getting past the game's flaws is ultimately more trouble than it's worth on a system already packed with action and strategy games that are consistently better than what lies beyond the frustration herein.

It's nice to see someone trying something new, but they're overreaching. Not so great action and not so great strategy gets you this confusing pile of not so great stuff. [July 2007, p.69]
Edge Magazine
The last thing on Glory Days’ mind is fun: it instead angrily stomps forward to the beat of the ‘war is hell’ drum. [Oct 2007, p.99]

Lachlan C. gave it an8:
Very fun game, game of choice at the moment, more than just an average shooter, includes much strategy and has a challenging campaign probabl. Fun to just pick up and play, Which is very important in a hand held gaming device
Neven R. gave it a10:
The game has all that makes a great game. No more, no less.
Drew F. gave it a7:
It's Choplifter on Crack. Very fast-paced action which can be a bit overwhelming when you first start playing. After about a half hour, though, you discover a pretty fun little game. Definitely looks to be a bit on the short side, (i played for about an hour and am already halfway thru the missions), but if you have someone to play multiplayer with i'd bump my rating up to an 8.
Simon C. gave it a9:
This is awesome fun - like nothing I have played on the DS before!
