(Also known as "Kirby Mouse Attack" in the UK/EU) Kirby's back and ready for a bellyful of adventure. When someone steals some strawberry shortcake, the pink powerhouse sets out after them, learning new skills. Players can expect all the floating, jumping and battling of a classic Kirby game, but this time, Kirby’s copy abilities have been massively boosted. Not only can players mix and match copy abilities by using the stylus to drag them together inside Kirby's belly (located on the touch screen), but the powers themselves now have the ability to affect the environment, as well as foes. Burn trees and grasses with the Fire ability, freeze water with the Ice ability. In sub-game mode, this game also features multiplayer fun for up to four players, using either Multi-Card or DS Download Play over DS Local Area Network. [Nintendo]

The unique structure of the boss battles, hidden items to find and strategy involved with mixing abilities, managing your inventory - which is effectively Kirby's stomach - and deciding how to take down each enemy really makes Squeak Squad one of the best platform adventures you can find today.

I cannot recommend this game enough. It's the most fun game experience I've had on the Nintendo DS since the New Super Mario came out. I would even say that this game is a little bit more fun than the latter simply for its unique gameplay and ultra-cool copy abilities.

A great return to the formula that helped the series to gain the popularity it has to this date. While the adventure isn’t long, it is definitely fun to play through a couple more times.

The only thing we didn't like about Squeak Squad is that it's a tad on the easy side...But there is no denying the ineffable charm of this title.

IGN
A solid and fun evolution of the HAL platform style, with some clever puzzles and cool new enemies and moves. The multiplayer battle mode's pretty slick, too.

Game Informer
Thankfully, the difficulty and complexity of the level design improves as the game wears on. Kirby’s ability to endlessly eat and absorb the powers of what he digests is not only enviable, but pretty darn fun in practice.

Though Kirby Squeak Squad rarely finds a way to challenge you, it's a clever and cute enough platformer to recommend to most DS owners.

Nintendo Power
The good news is that Squeak Squad doesn't need a whopping dose of DS innovation or pretty environments to make it enjoyable--it's a big, midly challenging adventure with gobs of gameplay variety and replay value. [Feb. 2007, p.93]

Da Gameboyz
While Kirby Squeak Squad doesn’t really revolutionize the franchise it still does its job of adding a few new elements to the entry platformer for the younger crowd (or those young at heart).

Most notably, the level design in Kirby Mouse Attack is excellent. With three treasure chests to locate in each stage of each world, there is far more complexity here than a simple dash to the far right. In many ways the cavernous level design here is reminiscent of Super Metroid. [Aug 2007, p.112]

Frantic battles with thieving rodents conclude each level but soon become repetitive and don't add much to the package. Nor do the small collection of simple multi-player mini-games, which include food gobbling contests and a shooting gallery.

Official Nintendo Magazine UK
While Mouse Attack is a fun, if slightly short-lived, platformer, Kirby has taken a small step backwards after the clever and innovative "Canvas Curse." [July 2007, p.84]

Undoubtedly a fun game. Anyone who has played a Kirby title before will not find anything particularly new here but everything is done in a very inventive and fun way.

A decent gaming snack, but Kirby Squeak Squad is unlikely to satisfy those hungry for a challenge.

Squeak Squad overall is a polished, impeccably designed pushover. [Feb 2007, p.84]

Stomach issues and assumption of Japanese linguistic ability aside, however, Squeak Squad is the most complete conventional Kirby side-scroller in some time. Yes, it may not be a "killer app" like Canvas Curse, but it's not trying to be.

A solid, easy platformer that's colorful, fun, and full of variety. Kids and casual players should love it, but hardcore players may gulp it all down too fast and be left hungry for more.

Okay, the story isn’t winning any Pulitzers, but Kirby Squeak Squad will certainly please the kiddies, yet may only whet the palate of those aching for the next great side-scrolling throwback.

While the game can be enjoyable, it is far too easy for the average gamer and far more suited to a younger audience.

It's definitely a great-looking and playing title, but its simplicity might turn off a lot of players.

It's a well made game from a presentation standpoint, but the bulk of the game is simply far too simple to keep any but the most hardened Kirby fan glued to his or her dual screens.

Frankly, playing with the contents of Kirby's tummy will just have you hungry for something of more substance. [Jan. 2007, p.111]

GameTrailers
Virtually every Kirby game since the original has had some kind of feature to add some depth, but there’s nothing like that here. Without that hook, Squeak Squad is a gussied-up throwback to the original NES game, that just doesn’t hold up today, but should be a hit with the little ones.

While this game is perfect for kids who are just getting introduced to platformers, it may be a little too easy for veterans.

It saddens me to give a Kirby platformer such a lukewarm review, but Squeak Squad's underused powers, severely obtuse puzzles, and marginal variety sets the series back over a decade.

A cute little game with colorful visuals, wonderful music, and fun gameplay. It's a shame the game is so short (you'll beat it in a day without much of an effort) and that the minigames feel tacked on.

Those in desperate search of a new platform game after completing New Super Mario Bros. upside down and backwards might get a few hours' respite from this, but otherwise wait until it costs nothing and then buy it for the nephew you gave your old chunky DS when you decide you had to have a Lite, and maybe invest your money in some of the Virtual Console's retro treats instead.

Nintendo's autopilot platformer: fun, familiar, predictable, silly and brain-sappingly simple. At the end of the day, not terrible. Just massively underwhelming. [JPN Import; January 2007, p.74]

Game Revolution
Kirby manages to star in yet another passable game for a Nintendo system. No, Kirby Squeak Squad isn’t ground-breaking by any means, but hey, you could do a lot worse.

Grant D. gave it an8:
This game is a lot like the games for gameboy advance, it seems like the only difference is the power mixing. It is not the best game I have ever played but it is enjoyable.

Zak B. gave it a10:
This game is so awesome! It has tons of new powers and a funny story. You must master the new powers!

SYC gave it a7:
Highly polished Kirby platformer in the classic sense. Fairly straight forward and easy to beat but it's loaded with secrets and it's just so beautifully done that it's hard not to be won over, at least for a while, by the almost disgustingly cute little pink ball that is Kirby.

Calvin Danielson gave it a3:
Only 5 ability combinations, little creativity, and a less than half a day completion (100%) left me sadly disappointed and short $30. You would have more fun with amazing mirror than with squeak squad, cause at least that uses creativity. I would recommend renting it, but not buying.
